94 Accord/F23/250HP/14PSI Update: BLOWN
« on: July 21, 2010, 10:05:12 PM »

So far, I pretty much have everything I need to get this shit done. After building up that little pocket rocket hatch, I've decided more power and more displacement for the Accord.

This is my 3rd build on this one. First, auto, stock motor, 2nd, rebuilt stock motor w studs, and now onto my 3rd.

1st build never blew, 2nd, 20psi for 6 months daily busted ring, and now for the 3rd.

F23 motor
headstuds
new gaskets n such
clutch, flywheel
cheap turbo
3 inch downpipe
450cc injectors
10 psi

250 sound achievable?

Do I really need more pics?

A RHMT build thread can NEVER have too much porn. Unless it's rawr's or complex's page, which will include gay porn. Since yours has NO PORN, you still need to post more pics...

BTW I think 250 won't be hard for this setup. Here's a mildly powerful stock-bottom F22 I've seen in person:

You should be good with your goal. But do I see the downpipe welded onto the turbine housing?

400 has been done for a spell...

Back in the days I made 305/307 for around a year and TRIED to blow the f22b1 up... Broke a ringland turning the boost to nog without tuning, but blew a coupler in the proccess to where it would only make 19psi... NOT enough to lean it out and make it ping hard enough to consume itself... LOL.

Heres the piston I did fuck up...

(Yes thats a hole in the bottom off the pic  LOL)

Good to know i wanna trade my turbo civic for an accord in good shape, and do a rhmt setup but i did not want to be limited to 10 pussy psi or lower like a stock civic.

Honestly, that's why I'm only just going to stud the head. These motors are just so beefy internally it's almost as if they were meant for boost from the factory.

Plus the f23 mains are bigger and today I pulled the pan off and definitely notice a stronger girdle than the f22.

Here are more dp pics as requested. And btw, I am no expert on welding, but I get the job done. Welds look better in person then anything. MIG ftl.

250hp will be easy with that setup. my f22 will push about that when its done at 12 pounds on a t3 super 60. i always get happy seeing people realize the awesome that is the f series engines boost potential. kudos

how well did the auto hold up to boost on your first setup?  I feel like giving mine a shot.

I'm also dropping an F23 into my car (same as yours, just a 97) when I get some additional scratch to spare.

I've been in the game on boosting f series blocks now for about 5 years.

I put 25k miles on the auto setup with a rinky dink turbo that spooled super quick. 7psi by 2k was intense. Tranny never blew. Daily drove the thing, had really no problems. In fact, it shifted 10x smoother when I was in boost then without.

Motor is almost complete, all I need now are some gaskets and it's good to go.

The wastegate recirc is going to affect flow out of th eturbo a bit, but the 3" will help. Too bad ya couldnt run it "over" the DP and dumped it further down at a better merge angle.

I'm aware it'll affect it somewhat but I figured that would be the easiest way to get my A/C lines to clear without affecting. Plus, I'm going to welding in a bung for the WB. It's got an 8psi spring in it, so we'll see how it goes.

I know that shit is fucked up, but hey, it's not as bad as everyone thinks. It actually saves me a great deal of money. About 30 for the flange and gasket and the hassle of exhaust leaking.

Plus, if the turbo ever fucks up, disconnect the center section bolts and swap another one in.

Not on the nig nog setting, and since no other boost setting matters your argument is invalid.

On the nig nog setting the wastegate stays shut, so there is no disruption of flow.  Are you saying you are afraid of the noggle switch, fat man?

Awesome.  Since my setup will consist of a rinky dink turbo that spools super quick, that should be pretty fun if the tranny holds it.  Were you just running an FMU that whole time (I know I've seen pics of the FMU in the engine bay before)?  I'm still debating to fuck with an AFC hack for a bit or to just install the adjustible FMU I have and adjust some shit with the AFC.  OBD2 isn't very nice like that.

2.3L + SOHC + boost = win.

Yeah, you were pretty concerned that your EBC solenoid was connected correctly.  Shadow, Russ, and I were looking at each other like, wtf?  Why doesn't the fat man say fuck it and just cut all the lines to the wastegate like a real man?

The tranny will hold, just do a small flush and get what you can out and put some lucas or some shit in there to help it. Just make sure when you start beating on it, that the tranny fluid is somewhat warm.

I used the FMU for over a year with check valves, then decided to try a chipped P28 on Neptune. That worked well for awhile, then the ecu blew for some reason, so then I ran stock ECU on about 3lbs with no problems for 6 months before I swapped. All times with stock injectors.
