Low rpm high kpa bins, question about afrs
« on: July 27, 2010, 09:56:53 PM »

Today i was cruising around on the highway doing weird things with throttle and boost n shit and I go tto thinking.

For instance if im in 5th I can make about 11lbs of boost at 3000rpm which is in a pretty odd bin area on the map. What kind of AFRS should i be looking at? Still keep it at around 11:5? Or can you run a bit leaner at these areas?

High load low rpm (that's low for a 4 cyl, anyway) I'd shoot for 11.5's for thermal safety.  Try dyno, det cans, or EGTs to trim up your timing.  Timing is key.

And, honestly, that's not a wierd part of th map.  You may take a single pull in a lower gear and not hit that spot, but if you change gears quickly it's possible that the boost stays up and the the rpms fall into that range - if you haven't tuned it she either goes lean or goes rich.  Best case is rich, and you just bog.
