Max boost on 440cc
« on: April 08, 2009, 12:37:37 AM »

I have a 75mm Vitara D16Z6 with .57 trim and 440cc injectors...

What is the max amount of boost I can run on the injectors before they dry up...

haha, 450cc injectors should max out around 300 hp at stock fuel pressure.

I'm thinking they might support more with a decent FPR, but I'd recommend upgrading the injectors instead. Delphis are cheap

boost is irrevelant.  it is all about the power.  What fuel pump?? What base fuel pressure??  what cams?? any port work?? Theres alot of variables involved,

taking a random guess(assuming you have a stock head/cams and a 255) you should be able to get at least 17-18lbs out of them.

Fuel pressure makes a huge difference. I have made 190 whp on b16a's all motor with stock injectors. Fpr was cranked up as high as it would go classic b&m fpr.

I do have the Classic B+M FPR but switched it out for the bigger outlet B-series FPR.

Stock fuel pump...

(34.8MJ/L)*(1L/1000cc)*(440cc/min)*(min/60s)=.2552MW=340HP

Assume approx thermal efficiency of 40% and you get 136HP.

Clearly too low.  Where is my error?  440cc/min at base fuel pressure?  Some of my conversions could be wrong too.  It's late.

Did you increase the pressue any with a regulator or is it stock pressure?

im not sure but i think the pressure is around 60 or something (i had the car tuned by slowmotion-motorsports here in ohio) after i got it all turboed up... i was expecting somewhere around 250whp on 9psi NOT 350whp... but its still going strong no smoke and no problems. next time i pop the hood i'll look at what the pressure is at i cant remember

Thermal, yes, but typical engine efficiency is about 20%. Multiply that by 4 injectors and you get about 272HP.

It's pretty typical that these things are good til about 300hp, depending on fuel pressure.
