if you are going to do a write up how about you do it the proper way not some fly by night bullshit. your masking is fucking garbage anyways.
i hate you. people like you make me look bad.
Its people like you who keep people like me in business. Who would pay 2000$ paint job on a 1500$ car? I charge 300$ for a single stage 500$ for base/clear and 700$ for base/clear with a cut and buff. So Regardless what you think I have 10 cars in the parking lot waiting to get painted.
Anyways on to what I am talking about today which is prep for panels you buy off e bay out of magazines etc.
Start by unwrapping carefully save the bags incase a craigslist date goes bad in a hurry
You want to wipe down with solvent for two reasons the plastic pieces still have the mold release agent that will cause fish eyes as well gum up scuff pads. You also want to wipe down because who knows what kinds of asian finger oils touched it.
Proceed to wipe down with solvent till your cloth is no longer black the hood will have e-coat so one wipe down should be good but the plastic pieces might need a few wipe downs.
Ok so in the relm of scuff pads I like Mirka scuff pads they are thinner and cut a bunch nicer than the cheaper ones and there are 2 colors red and grey. red is supposed to cut much the same as 320 paper and grey cuts like 400 grit. I use grey for scuffing panels that are getting base/clear and red for single stage.
proceed to scuff away on bumper covers you can scuff in any direction as long as its dull on hoods scuff down the hood not across this is so that when you paint the hood and you are driving you dont see any possible scuffing marks.
kinda hard to see but half of the hood is scuffed. here is a pic of the whole hood scuffed
it also shows the direction of the scuffing.
give it another wipe down again till your wipes are clean and its ready for the booth.
oh and someone is getting laid tonight.
Dont ask about the color i was amazed i could finish painting it i was laughing so hard but she picked it out.
and to everyone who knocked my masking skills
hmm i dont see any purple paint
anyways its not a huge update but never the less.
