Ok, So I tried posting this on HRTuning, but I dont think JR really knows what Im talking about.
So anyways, for those of you that havent seen the TunerView RD-1, heres a link:
http://www.hrtuning.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=91I was thinking that I want to replace the cluster with this, as Ive seen one or two people (that have the prototypes) do so, like it was a Race Pak or Motec set up. Pretty damn cool. But those people have electrical VSS, and I have a cable.
So what seems like a good route? I was thinking, I could swap to an electric VSS, and instead of wiring it to the cluster, I would just have to wire it to the ECU, since TunerView gets its info from the ECU. Right?
Or, I was thinking, I could keep the odometer and everything, by just leaving the cluster hooked up like factory, and tucking it behind the dash, out of sight... Then I wouldnt have to wire anything, swap VSS, etc.
Im not sure how the cable VSS works, but Im assuming its like a mechanical guage, and then the ECU gets its info from the gauge cluster itself...
I also thought about fuel, and if I can find a way for the stock sending unit to output 0-5v, I could use an input on the ECU. Or just run a separate gauge for that alone, like an Auto Meter. But the whole point behind the TunerView (for me) is to get rid of my gauges all together.
Any other issues or ideas? Throw em out there.
Thanks
