Resuable rod bearings?
« on: September 09, 2010, 03:08:49 PM »

On a budget, have new ones ordered but they won't be here untill tomorrow.  The surface is smooth and there are no imperfections that can be felt by finger or by running my finger nail across the surface.

So what do you guys think, are these reusable?

Keep in mind this just came out of his 400whp vitara setup that cracked the ring lands...

Meh, bearings are relatively easy to get to, so I wouldn't hesitate to reuse them.  I only replaced my last ones because there was copper showing through, coolant ate them up.

I'd run em.  In fact.. I've got 2 used sets from my last rebuild I'm keeping around just in case and they look worse than those.

Trevor already has it back together and running, he just peaced out for the weekend. I think the thing that will cause him issues is that he wasn't 100% sure which bearing was from which rod...  :mexi:

Bearings aren't supposed to have any markings. If any, they are very very light and barely noticable. That pic shows a groove.
Replace that shit or play with fire.

+1

If using the same crank, and the crank was polished correct, GO! ZDDP helps prevent scuffing at start-up, which will happen to any bearing surface in a motor.
