B16 VS 4g61 IM's
« on: September 10, 2010, 01:34:20 AM »

i wanted to do some fucking around, so i came up with this mess

B16a obd1 intake manifold, cut the flanges off, weld on 4G61T head flange and a 2G talon throttle body flange, DO WORK

decided to give the throttle body a bit of an angle to direct the incoming air towards the back of the plenum for better distribution...

the ports were only out by 1/8" on 1 and 4, added weld and will smooth out.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT AARON!!

hahaha

If the ports are so close I would of just made an adapter

Interesting that the ports are that close as far as spacing.

What are you mounting that in chassis wise?  With all that extra length I don't see it fitting in a DSM.

going in a turbo colt.  It should fit up, it's not that much longer.

i thought of that, i just wanted to minimize length, plus the b16 injectorator bungs weren't needed.  The H22 ports lined up perfectly, but that manifold is lame.

As well, Chris, i'm looking to port out the runners the entire length.  is there a particular method to this?  i was thinking of using a flexible adapter for a die grinder, if such a thing exist.

You have to cover up the weld with some JB weld and then it will be perfect!

Looks like EGR^^.

Also, how high do you plan on revving? Those are some mighty long runners and a small plenum. Considering the H runners can make 300whp NA and isn't much of a restriction(without the IAB plate) up until 500whp being boosted...it would have been a better choice.

4g61 dont crank walk. Idiot. Its a completely different crank and thrust-bearing design.

8000 to 8500, depending on how the cams allow the engine to breathe.  I know that the h22 may have been a better choice, but they are bulky and i don't like h22's anymore.  The runner length is far less than the stockers, which were around 13".  I may add some more volume to the plenum... but i may not care...

So why was this being done? Is there a problem with the DSM manifold?

You don't happen to have a complete obd-0 one do you? I have one that i was saving for my rhd crx but if you have one that not painted with good flange surfaces i would pick one up.

Also whats a 2003 s2000 t-body worth to you? i have one sitting here from my blown engine.

I understand the plenum/runner swap, but your decision to retain the DSM TB confuses me greatly.

So why was this being done? Is there a problem with the DSM manifold?

Yeah, just look at it.
