Clutch Fuckery

96 Hatch with LS/VTAK swap.

The clutch is a stg 3 comp clutch. The pedal is kinda fucky on it though. When I first put it in, the pedal travel was too far and it would pin the clutch and would not let the transmission go into gear unless I let off on the pedal about half an inch.

I've backed it off enough that for the most part, it goes into gear easily, but the problem still comes back from time to time and it doesn't have a consistent shift feel to it.

The linkage looks ok to me, but I'm open to any and all suggestions.

A clutch is pretty simple, if it was fucked up I would expect it to be always fucked up.

Sprung hub? Mine acted like that for about 400 miles previous to spitting out 2 hub springs and semi-permanently locking everything together. Shit sucked, I was 10 hours from home.

I have been doing a lot of reading about CC clutches being junk lately. I will probably fuck with it a little more and if I can't get it working right I'll replace it over the winter.

I've got a prett beefy LSD clutch and it makes you a man driving it around, my left leg is fucking ripped and looks funny next to my right chicken leg. Takes some serious pressure to push that bitch down.

Drive anything bigger with a clutch and you will love even a stiff 4 banger clutch.  I drive the Jeep with a 4.2 5 speed... the fucking thing has under 100hp and like 200 torque.  When I get in my car and step on the clutch it feels like there's nothing even there.  Man clutches will make you a man.

Yeah, everything is made in China as far as clutch stuff goes, some stuff is just better than others.

The disc I bought from Mike, the PP was sourced locally. I'll prob just buy one of his PP over the winter and call it a day. I'm going to try adjusting the pedal back to the stock specs for free play. travel, etc. tomorrow night, I'll update after that.

I love cable clutches for the ease of adjustability.

Now with that being said, The strongest clutch Pedal I have ever had to use was in my 64 ford F100. Has a 4 speed in it with a granny low, and if you are at a stoplight with the clutch pressed in, by the time you are leaving the light your leg will be trembling.....lol

ACT full-face clutches are nice, but their pucks seem to disintegrate easy. I have an HDSS for a B and D series, and the later was on someone else's car for unknown miles plus mine for 10k. I got it for $100, good investment. For more serious street power, I'd recommend the XD-pp's. The HD is stiff vs stock, but seems normal after a hundred miles.

I've heard lots of good things about action clutches. If you don't slip your clutch like crazy, their kevlar clutches will make you happy. The price of LSD clutches tends to let certain things slide. I've also heard good things about the puck-based Exedy clutches. Overall I'd suggest you look around for the high-milage street builds. Some people have >40k miles on a engine build, so they'd have the best idea on a performance street clutch.

LSD FTW! I wasn't sure how hard it would be to have a pressure plate rated at 415lbs and cable clutch, but finally, it's no that bad.

The clutch feels funny in the girl's Yaris after that. lol
