talked to dave crower today, asked me to mail him the cams and he said hell see what he can do for me.  Mentions that my valves were screwed and he said he might replace the cams and possibly the valvetrain

Soo if he will replace the cams, should i put them to use or should i sell them and get oem's

Perhaps a bad set of cores they know about hence why crower is being very cool about this. I know the first couple batches of crower, skunk cams back in the day all either went flat or did what happened to both you and hotrex.

For the dohc vtec motor crowd from b/h/k there all is OEM upgrades so IMO unless your doing an all motor build even then I love ctr cams in B motors no need to run aftermarket camshafts.

For all you guys who dont want to get shafted when buying used ctr/itr cams great simple ID pics. Yes they are correct.

Im banking brian crower and crower use the same cores to grind on

Yeah I would bet that as well, as iirc crower cams was started by brian crowers old man, and brian was into sport compacts, so they started the brian crower so he would have something to do. Or so the internet legend goes...

FYI, go to www.crower.com and look for the flashing link.

Brian Crower grew up at Crower Cams & Equipment Company, where he headed up the Crower Sport Compact division since its inception. With Crower Cams heavily focused on the V8 market, Brian saw an opportunity to truly support the needs of the Sport Compact community. With the support of his family, Brian Crower Inc. was formed to deliver the highest quality internal engine components for a variety of popular engine platforms

Since there's obviously a family tiff, who do you believe?  That's right - neither of them.

Crower VTEC cams have always been prone to breaking, they mostly fixed the problem 5+ years ago to the point where Skunk2 Pro's were a less reliable cam.  Recently they released a bunch of blems - either old cams they sat on for years, or another batch of crapola - and there are a lot of cams breaking.  For SOHC or LS, their stuff is quality.

Brian Crower cams are, honestly, not the biggest on the market.  They are very much marketed at the streetcar crowd, and as such they are a good value.  Josh's LS is the first set of Brian Crower's I have seen or heard of breaking... the fact that Josh was involved leads me to believe it was installer error, or he got a "sweet deal" on the head/motor which had different caps swapped onto it at some point.

Everyone recommending GSR/ITR for a turbo vehicle is correct.

Oem may be the way to go, but those crower cams ripped fucking tits in vtec. compared to the CTR cams i got right now, crower blows them out of the water as far as performance..as far as to the point where i cant tell if vtec is engaging, or if the cams just dont even come close to comparing.

I know Brian crower was very deep into drugs for years his old man use to bad mouth him to hickman all the time since dave use to get alot of one off grinds for some very large one off style all motor builds.

Brian was also a dick to deal with when I would get regrinds from them along time ago. He always tried overcharging me.

Well i finally shipped my crower cams in to maybe get a refund or another set of cams

Talked to louis from crower today, They got my cams and they wanted to inspect them tomorrow and that i need to call them back tomorrow.  I sent some of the valves along with the cams. Hopefully something comes from this  :-\

Also, i mentioned that I wasnt the first person for this to happen to and they tried to deny it and say that its very rare   ::) . Then continued to ask me where i read it at and so on.  Fuckers

Maybe as jd pointed out they sold out some old inventory. This was a problem when vtec billet camshafts first came out but that was a long time ago. Either way atleast they are working with you. Hopefully it was a small batch so this doesnt happen to anyone else.

Well you should be able to flip the cams for that price and make a couple bucks.

So when was the last time hands on people have seen crower cams fail? Obviously we have 2 cases here on the board.
