It really blows my mind that no body has shut this down. 180mph in a well setup rwd car is running out of room in the 25.5 spec, and having to goto a 25.3 spec, and these guys are getting away with 10pt cages. Some have taken the liberty of a funny car halo, but that is still NO WHERE near the safety equipment needed on these cars. Unfortunately it will probably need a serious crash in order for it too be looked at.
It is amazing that they are breaking into the 8.49's and below, and even more amazing that they are going 180mph+
I know why competitively none of them have gone to the 25.5, is that extra 200lbs of tubing, will really take a lot to over come and stay competitive. As long as the safety rules stay the way they are guys like miller are probably better off just dialing in for consistent 8.50's or as close to consistent 8.50's as he can get, then adding 200lbs, and trying to find the extra power to bring him back to 8.40's and quicker.
