To mid engine not?
« on: October 13, 2011, 03:14:14 PM »

So, I have this super clean 91 hatch with no title. I took it to the GRM $2011 challenge and did ok considering some rain issues. My original plan for the car was to make it a dedicated drag car and inch my way into the 9's with it. I figured I would see how fast I could go with vitaras, then sleeve a D and go faster, then probably a J swap.

Anyway, I realized today that I have almost everything I would need to make it a mid engine car laying around my home shop. I can't decide if I should or not though. The car is so clean, it's kind of a shame to cut it up. What would RHMT do?

While we are talking crazy I had a dream about throwing a sr20ve into my civic with all honda wiring including the dizzy. Im half way temped since i can get everything for dirt cheap. A few locals running big turbos and high boost on stock motors. Gt40 sr at 35psi on race gas driving around town.

I also considered front engine/rear drive but I don't think I could do it for $2012.

Mid engine with a turbo'd J.

Agreed.  Although it could be pretty fun to be inside a hatch with an ITB'd J35 trying to suck your hair through the velocity stacks.

So, I'm a little hesitant to post about it before it happens, but it looks like I'll be picking up an 84 hatch shell this weekend. It will be getting the mid engine treatment if so.

That is a pretty good possibility down the road. For now it will get a D though. I'm not really baller enough to afford a J manual or AEM EMS.

There should be a couple of EMS coming out to undercut and supposedly work better the AEM.
