A bunch of guys were making rubber bushings out of old tires. I thought it was interesting(wish I could have had more time for better pics but jeepney pulled up)

Stopped at a welding shop today. Took some pics of the equipment. You guys will love this stuff. The internet is too slow to connect to photobucket though so you will have to wait until later.

On another interesting note. I got into an altercation with a trike/cab driver today in my running around town. If you want to go somewhere you just tell the cab driver what you want to see and they take you to see it. Generally Americans end up paying twice as much as the locals which is not a problem because the locals usually pay 7PHP for a cab ride(I usually just give them 20PHP because im a nice guy.Well I had a little trip to the welding shop and off the IBB motors (the jeepney place). Well he tried to charge me 200PHP for the trip. I gave him 50PHP and told him if he doesnt get lost I will call police. If he wasnt trying to fuck me over I probably would have given him the 200PHP as a tip because I reward honesty. So he knew he wasnt going to get more money from me if the police show up and may me pay the usual rates so he decides to get in my face.LOL Bad move, I grabbed him by the neck and told him he better move the fuck on

Ok we have a good enough internet signal to post up some pics from yesterday and today. Yesterday we went out and hung out with her family in a little town out in the boonies called Sta Rita. The people there are the friendliest I have met in a long time. The disposition of these people is really something I am jealous of as an American. The happily poor people smiling and singing is just amazing to see. It is really beyond the comprehension of the way we live.

Anyways. This is "granny". She is the head of the Calutan family and the one who raised my girlfriend as a child.

Here is the house my girlfriend grew up in.

She isnt here yet but I am working on getting her here (just started). I have known her for four years and she has proven to me that she will not be like the people here who try to live beyond their means to impress others. My ex wife for most of our relationship had no problem driving herself and our kids around in VW rabbits I bought at the impound auctions for nothing and living in a house we owned outright. Somewhere along the line she lost her perspective. I dont expect this one to do that.

Quite honestly, our involvement in their lives is a bad thing. These people live this way happily ( I envy that). Contrary to the way American people have been programmed,there is happiness in places like this. They do not equate happiness to a dollar amount.

I seen some of these super poor towns in Colombia. When I was younger my parents would walk into the poorest of poor homes and give the locals a few $$$ to buy food. Its hard not to want to help when people are in that kind of state......
