HI guys, im building a Z6 w/ P29 pistons. new pistons/rings, gasket blabla, ok, my question is about ring gaps, checked and all are in oem specs, 0.30mm first, not sure if to "open" a bit more , it will be used too for road racing (track days).

A little extra room will not hurt it.  Clearance is room to make power.

On turbo motors I run .018 top ring, and .019 on the second ring, leave the oil control rings alone.

Ring gap should be increased with heat. High compression/timing will want a bit more gap.

A gap that's slightly too large will only loose a cunt hair of power, but mostly just increase blowby. The increased crankcase gasses lead to a slightly shorter oil change interval. A gap that's too small will bind the rings, ruin your ring seal (permanently), and worst case crack rings and even ringlands.

yes, i know that, but important thing is to know how much will expand when engine is hot. i think i will open a bit more the top rings since car will be used too for road racing sometimes.
