I don't have a turbo in mind to give a part number. That was the point of this thread. Trying to decide which one to go with if/when the days comes.

Go here: http://www.aptuning.net/Garrett_GT_Journal_Bearing_s/50.htm

Or try a CDM GT35. Due to the cost, a Holset will probably be your best option.

I really, really, really want to see someone torture test a batch of those from random vendors to see if they're worth what they want for them.

For ballers?

Triple ceramic ball bearing fuck oil lines for life.  Simply plumb water and you're ready to rock.

HX52 is where it's at. Got a "rebuildable core" off ebay for $150 and it had so little shaft play it was practically non-existent. Awesome turbo. Guys have made over 700 easy. Some over 800.

But will it blend... I mean spool?

500-550 will get you into the 9's.  Work on your suspension and driving, faggot.

A busted DRAGIII t3/t04e kit on a B20 with cams, shitty street tires and peeling out through 4th still netted me a 12.3 @ 128....about 8 years ago. Work on your driving....1.9 60ft (I can't drive either)

Or add a shot of gas.

I'm running a 60-1 on my setup(now) as well, personally I have a cage but none of the other safety shit... Next time(if ever) I take it to the track my goal is to get booted out. :D

1.7 60' on a 12.5 run sounds like solid driving to me. Lol. 14psi on a worn out CDM turbo did work. Going to IFO in 2 weeks with the 60-1 and as much boost as I can get on 93 octane. I'm hoping for low 11's. I have all of the safety shit for 10.00 and 149mph. I'll switch to c16 and a bigger intercooler after this years grm challenge and head for single digits.

I think I have decided to hit 9's on this 60-1. If I can't do it on just boost, I'll add a 50 shot or so. After that the car will get an N/A J35 and see where that takes me. I don't want to spend the loot it takes to run 9's more than once.

Seems legit, I knew a fella that was his only goal for building a car, run a 9. Some stupid tubbed out new bettle chassis with a big block. Immediately after the first 9.9 he ran, he sold the car.... I think it's somewhere running meth and 8's now.

NOthing wrong with precision...

Except for their flimsy billet wheels.  You can't hog out the root like that and not expect to have issues.

THey work fine. I prefer Garretts myself, but have NO issues with Precisions... Unless your spinning shaft speed through the roof consistently... You SHOULDnt have any issues, not that they havent in the past. Im aware of the issues, more often than not though, its always teh JB ones

Precision certainly had some major issues when Garrett first cut them off. Their current generation of turbo's I would have no issues running.

They are one of the current favorite turbo's of the 2.6" inducer sled pulling class, I don't know that there is a more abusive form of motorsport to a turbo then a class limited by turbo inducer size. Where they push these things to 80psi+ on a single turbo, with almost inconceivable shaft speeds. Obviously there are failures, but no more then any other brand.

If the billet wheel ones survive a dyno tune without coming apart, locking up, or leaking a bunch of oil then they seem to last a long time.  I'd guess they run a 10% failure rate out of the box.
