repairing AEM EMS V1 box?
« on: July 06, 2014, 04:56:34 PM »

anyone know if anyone actually does this? buddy said the last one he sent back to AEM they said it was broken and they no longer repair them, and gave him a "deal" on a v2 box.

its a 30-1300 big case V1. with no spark, maybe no injectors?

I sent my box back to aem and they repaired it last year. Call their tech line, they will tell you if they can. But if you can get a v2 out of them on a swap for a decent price jump all over that shit if you can. The hardware is way better and the software is much better also.
I switched this summer and won't go back to a v1 again.

can't you run the new software on old box?  anyway buddy said he sent one back a year or so ago. was like 800bucks for a v2. on top of what was already paid...

You can but the only part of AEM TUNER that works is what the AEM PRO software has, all the extras don't work.
And the logging capabilities aren't nearly as good.
Aem usually only charges $100 for repair, and then the shipping back to you. That is unless it is something major. I think when I sent mine in they offered me the v2 for $700 and they would keep my v1. But I had a newer v1 box so that might have been the extra 100. I wish I would have done it now, cost me more in the end.

honestly I just want my car to run. I'm about to the point of putting it back to a super simple small setup and/or just dropping it off somewhere till its perfect.

I just want to drive my car. and rip on it the way it was intended every once in a while...

fuck. what a waste of damn money... :-\
