Sat July 15th
Went and got 4 yards of compost and spread it/mixed it in with our current soil. We already got 4 yards a few weeks ago so this was the last of it.

Sunday July 15th
finished up the cherry tone timbers around our front flower beds to give them a boarder. Did some touch up paint on the exterior of the house/trim. Spread grass seed and firtlizer and watered it.

Mud and tape guy showed up sunday evening and worked from 5 or y until 11 at night trying to get finished up.

Monday July 17th
I knocked out most of the rear deck. Now I just need to pick up 1 more deck board and screw it and about 500 more screws into the decking boards and it's done. Besides the stares for it and the front deck that is.

Mud and tape guy finished all the interior mud, tape, sanding, priming, and texture. Now he just has to finish fire taping the garage.

I hope to have all our paint work knocked out by friday the 21st. Gonna be a long few days.

Tuesday July 18th.
Swept the floor and vacuumed all the edges when sheetrock will be painted. Didn't want to blow dust up I to the paint when I'm spraying with my airless. Started shooting primer. I got all 4 bedrooms, the hallway, both bathrooms and master walk in closet sprayed and backrolled. Started around 5pm and ended arou d 1115pm.

Wednesday July 19th
finished shooting and Rolling all the primer. Took almost 30 gallons of primer to do all the sheetrock. Might have maybe a half a gallon left. Started shooting ceiling paint. My cousin told me I shouldn't have to back roll because we primed so well. Just spray in a north south patter and then spray over it with a east west patter. Well...... looks like shit. The paint is like honey it's so thick. It kept leaving tails on the fan pattern. So I had to back roll it. First room turnout out like shit. Gonna have to redo it and the guest room. But I finished half of the ceiling that night. Stopped around 1130 or so.

Thursday the 20th

started shooting the rest of the ceiling paint. Things it with water the first night and it sprayed a little better. But today I turned the pressure all the way up on the pump and watered it down a little more. Well...... that was the secret. I used ever last fucking drop to spray the celing. Like i pumped what was left in my line out into the pai t tray so i could fi ish rolling that last little section.

Taking Friday and Saturday off from painting. It's my wife and I 10th wedding aniversary. Gonna hit it hard on su day and knock out all the wall paint and touch up the celling in the 2 bedrooms that need to be  re done.

This is probably the worse case Ontario for getting your own home built that ive ever heard.

I feel like i would have already stabbed a few people to death.  I see houses go up around here from braking ground to live in in like 4 weeks.

Dude, the building market up here is fucked. So much work and not enough people to build it. At least not enough qualified people that is.

But with that being said, our house loan is for $327k ish and will most likley appraise for $450-470ish. Once i build our shop in a few years, it should push us up another $75k in value. If this house and land were on the other side of the water (Seattle suburbs) we would be looking at about $650-700k in value.

Houses are retarded expensive up here. This house and land in Arizona would be worth about $275k

I've watched a few houses be built in about 1/10th the time ours has gone up. But then again, the company doesn't sub contract anything out. It's Joe blows construction and he has, framers, plumber, electric and, sheetrocker, roofers ect..... All on his payroll, and they don't work for anyone else. But then again those houses are 2 stroys and about 2/3 the size of our house on zero lot lines in a housing track community.

Sunday July 23rd

finished all interior painting. Also repainted the ceilings in the bedrooms because they looked like ass.
Text, and emailed our project manager to let him know that we were done painting. (He was shooting to have cabinet guys in on monday morning)

Monday July 24th

I receive a email and a text staying that they can get guys will be there today. I show up around 115, no cabinet guys in sight. I email asking what was up. I get no response at all. Now I'm fucking pissed. Send a email off 5 hours later stating that I'm pissed and that I was killing my self trying to get shit done because I was told last week that cabinet guys were going to be in on monday. (We're allowed 10 days for interior paint and we knocked/rushed it out in 5)

Get a email back within minutes stating that cabinet guys will be there first thing in the morning. Going to go out this afternoon and see if it's another lie or not.

Lol, no there's a spot for a dishwasher. That will be installed next week. It's nice as fuck too. Only like 45 db loud.

Friday July 28th
Window screens showed up. The electrician showed up today and put in almost all the wall outlets and some of the light switches.

Saturday July 29th

got all of our cat6 wall plates wired up along with our coaxial cable. Saw the cabnet guys must have dropped our cabnet and broke the corner, but they installed it anyways. So a new one is on order. Flooring guys showed up to see what they were up against.

Monday July 31st
showed up to water the lawn. Flooring and countertop guys were there. They installed all the subfloor for our vinyl flooring. Got the cou tattoos installed and the backsplash tiles in. They ordered the wrong tiles for the bathroom and installed it. Glad I was there to catch it to tell them. The popped them off and fucked up some of the sheetrock.

Wrong tile, suppose to be the lighter one like in the kitchen

Tuesday Aug 1st
plumbers showed up and installed a bunch of trim in stuff and our water heater. Which is fucking crazy, it is a heat pump water heater and is suppose to be super efficient. Flooring guys wasn't there so I don't know wtf happened to them but they better show up soon. Also works on some of the back landing for the stair risers.

Thursday August 3rd,

Electricians showed up today and knocked out most the lights and light switches in the house, some more outlets too. Carpet guys showed up to smack that down and told them not u til everything else is finished. They said they were going to lay down tac strips. They did 1 room and bounced. That's thing we want is trashed carpets from contractors stomping all over it.

Friday Aug 4th
Electricians showed up again and knocked out some outside lighting.

I went and picked up 2 yards of mulch/bark for the flower beds. Spread a little and dimpled the rest on a tarp. Also changed my mind on the steps for the back deck. Was going to cut some stringers/stair risers but decided to just build box steps instead because its only 2 steps and i want it solid and it will look much better too.

Saturday Aug 5th
worked on the back steps for the deck. The Mrs got up on the ladder and did a bunch of touch up work on the paint. Got one set of steps finished.

Sunday Aug 6th
got the other side of steps knocked out. Now I just need to finish the corner step. And build steps for the front porch.

Flooring and countertop will be done tomorrow then the only thing left is trim and doors, finish plumbing, a little electricical work and carpet. So........... like next month's or something we will probably move is. Fucking shit show.....

Lol, that's funny because I'm planning on building a 32x62 shop with 16' walls and take the last 20' and build a 1 bedroom apartment. With storage over the top if it.

Tuesday Aug 8th
plumbers showed up and set our kitchen sink, set the toilets and the dishwasher. Looks so good!!

Thursday aug 10th

4 Mexicans showed up and busted out all the trim and interior doors. We have lots of touch up work from these guys. They kinda beat the shit out of the place. I just don't understand how you can be so careless of other people's shit?

Anyways, I had 2 separate wires ran out towards our septic tank. 1 for an alarm, and 1 for a pump. Found out we didn't need a pump until afterwards. So I just installed a double outlet on the back of the house with 2 dedicated 20amp circuits. So I should be able to run just about anything I want to off of them.
Also Did a little more landscaping.

Friday Aug 11th
Carpet install has started. Looks pretty good for the most part. They will finish up on Saturday. I also finished screwing down all the deck boards so the rear covered deck is completly done.

Plans for the weekend....
1. Dispose of all our scrap lumber and siding
2. Dispose of all of our cardboard
3. Install front steps on porch(already built, just need to attach them)
4. Install about 300' of field fencing to keep my dog from trying to impregnate the neighbors dog(she's a little slut)
5. Finish landscaping bark and put down some more grass seed after I mow our lawn.

Saturday Aug 12th
Went to the dump, loaded the truck up for the next day to drop off all the scrap lumber

Sunday Aug 13th
installed front steps and we did a little raking and spreading of bark.called in inspection for front and rear deck for Thursday.

Monday Aug 14th
Dumpled all the wood and got another 2 yards of bark/mulch
Spread some bark. Built the step for the door entering into the garage. Mexicans showed up and caulked all our trim and filled all the nail holes. Found out our final inspection is set for Friday. So fingers crossed all goes well and we can start moving in.

We were almost there until we showed up today and saw that our "electricians are going to make your house a property on Tuesday" didn't show. So we don't know if it was a lie or not. But L&I has to come in and inspect our electrical work before the county will issue our occupancy permit.

Wednesday Aug 16th

got a email from the county saying that we had a health department inspection for our septic. Then 10 min later I get a email stating that the inspection failed because they didn't not have the final course of construction paperwork for our septic. Call septic dude up, said he must have forgot to file it. So today I'm going to get the final paperwork from him and then hand deliver it to the health department. They said it takes 24hours to process. Hopefully I can sweet talk someone into signing off on it right when I hand it to them so we can still get a go a head on the final for Friday. Otherwise were at there mercy.

Also pulling out of the parking lit yesterday in a frenzy I forgot to put my seatbelt on. As I'm driving down the road I reach up to put it on right as I'm passing a motorcycle cop. Fucked pulls me over and writes me a ticket for $136.00 GAL.

Go out to the house after work. Sheetrocker has showed up and finished firewall tapering the garage wall. Electricians showed and finished everything off. We installed our fridge and our stove last night, mowed the lawn and cleaned up our whole side yard where we had all of our supply staged. Hopefully the try and fuck with us on erosion control considering we have no grass over there.

Hopefully today goes better then yesterday.

Thursday Aug 17th

Got the paperwork from our septic guy. Turned it into the health department with a box of doughnuts. 15min later shit was approved and the county had signed off on it.

L&I came out to inspect our power. It's all good.

County came out to inspect my deck and porch. It's all good and signed off as well.

Went to the dump to throw away all of our building suppys. Picked up another yard of bark. Spread some of it and put the rest in the woods in a big pile. Also hooked up the power cord to the oven and the water line to the fridge. Plugged everything in and so far so good.

So our final inspection is on for tomorrow. So fingers crossed it all goes well.

Well, that's it. We passed.

Friday Aug 18th 2017

I got off work around noon. Our inspection was between 12-4 On the way to the house my wife text me and asks if the floor vent cover not being in place would cause us to fail are inspection? Our project manager was in charge of setting those in place. He forgot to enlarge the hole on one of them located in our mud room. I called and asked him if that would fail us and he said yes. So I called up my buddy Ed who only lives 2 miles away to borrow his jig saw and a extention cord. As I was coming back from his house the inspector was riggt in front of me. I pull up right behind him at my house. I go straight to cutting out the hole just a touch larger. He didn't even give a shit....lol His name was Pedro and the guy was hella relaxed. Only thing was our exhaust fan in the master bath wasn't working. Turns out the hvac guys unplugged the fan when  putting the cover on. Plugged it back in and not a problem. The 1 sheetrocked wall in are garage(fire wall) wasn't completely sealed up and said we needed to do a little fire blocking/caulking around our furnace on the ceiling and on the corners where it met the wall. Also needed to pull the keeper pin on our hinge for the door that leads into the house. That way it auto closes behind us as we walk into the house. It's a fire code thing.

Pedro said since we were the home owners he wasn't going to request a reinspection since he had faith that we would do it. Told him to leave his email and after I do it I would send him pictures of it.

So today we have the moving truck and were packing up our storage unit. Fun y thing is the in-laws are going out of town and we have to house sit for them so we won't be staying at our house until next Friday.

Thank fucking God this build is over.

So quite a bit if stuff has happened around the house in the last year and a half...... so hang on, I'm about to dump a whole heap of an update .....

House was signed off on in Aug. We didn't actually move in and stay in the house until the 2nd week of September.

After moved in and settled, here's a picture of how good the grass came in

Just kinda hung out and unpacked and put shit away for a few weeks and then all of a sudden my father in law passes away on September 27th 2017.

Hit the family pretty hard. He was like a best friend to me. He would skype us and most the time it ended up being just me and him talking for a hour or so. And that was a couple of times a week. Was pretty tough. Still think about how hes not around to see his grandson grow up and it kills me.

He lived in NV and we live in WA. Went down the end of step to take care of a bunch of stuff. Fast forward 3 weeks. I fly down alone to turn around and drive back up the next day in my father in laws truck. I get a phone call from my wife at about 1130 @ night in a frantic voice I hear her say "Theres a fucking bear on our front porch!" I tell her to grab the caf keys and hit the panic button and it should scare it off. My wife's step dad comes over to check things out that night and all is good. Bear is gone but he stole our pumpkins off our front porch and was popping them open in the woods and eating the seeds out if them.

Needless to say, we have lots of wildlife around....

Nov 2017
Built a fire pit in the backyard. Made it big enough that I could fit a pallet in it. As you can see in the background I dont have a shortage of wood to burn.

We had our first party at the house the weekend b4 Thanksgiving 2017. Had a big fire deep fryed some Turkey. Had about 30 people inside the house at once and it didn't feel cramped at all. Was awesome!

First defect of the house. ...  well not really, it was bad from the start. The blinds are mounted between the pains of glass and it was always stiff to move up and down. Then the weekend b4 Thanksgiving the blinds caught the glass and got all fucked up
Door manufacture sent out a repair guy and he replaced the whole piece of glass with new blinds mounted inside.

December 2017
Christmas lights up

First snow
Was pretty fun to go out and hike around in it.

New years eve 2017.....
Lit off a few fireworks and had another bonfire.

2018.....
Jan
Built some overhead storage for all the totes and shit we have

Bought the boy a quad to kick around on. China Honda copy. Was $580 shipped to my door. It's a 110cc with a key fob that I can click and it kills the motor. Works pretty good. It will do 30mph with the throttle opened up all the way. Have the throttle stop se to where it only does about 10mph though. Need to cut some trails now.....

Feb 2018
Get a call from my sister on the 4th @ about 10pm. She tells me that our brother wrote a suicide note on Facebook and said dont come find him or anything like that. (Hes super fucking smart to the point to where hes kinda crazy) he parked his car at our parents house and walked away. Searched all night with about 25 other people looking all over for him. Next day he is found in the woods about 2 miles from my house with a gunshot wound to the head. He walked about 5 miles on backroads and trails to where he finally decided that was the place. Crazy thing is, he lived. He can talk, walk and has some use of his right arm and hand, but he is defiantly disabled now. He will probably never work, or drive again. Pretty wild to be 27 years old and think shit like that.

Spring 2018
Put in some work in my garage. Built a bench, put in a bunch if outlets
Installed 8, 8' T8 High output lights in my garage.

Put my electric gate opener on. Also wrapped my gate posts in siding and wired up lights and a outlet.

Also installed a cam up in the trees with a 10db Antenna so it can shoot the wireless signal down to the house (about 200' away)

Built my wife a arbor for her birthday out of some downed trees that we had laying around.

Fall 2018
So we got neighbors,
They built a house and moved in around september/October. I built a fence between our property and there's to keep my dog in. Fuck..... do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to roll fencing up hills, around trees, through the woods and make it look nice? All by yourself at that? Oh but it was only about 300'....lol

Oh fucking trees..........
They are falling everwhere........ came home to this little fucker laying on our house. 2nd time this has happened.

So....... I fired up the saw and went to town. Must have cut down 50-70 trees/saplings or anything that was leaning. Needless to say, I have lots more to burn now.

So this is pretty much where were at now.

I ordered up a chainsaw mill to start cutting my own timbers. Were gonna start buding a tree house come February.

Oh, and my wife is pregnant with our daughter. And shes due in may. So here starts the rollercoaster all over again....Haha

Well I haven't milled any lumber yet, but I have started getting ready to build a shed.

Doing a 10x16 with 12' wall on one side and 8' on the other for a lean to roof. I got all the plywood for the subflooring for free and the metal corrugated roofing for free. Still gonna cost probably $1500. Oh....... and I picked up a dewalt 12" dual compounding sliding miter saw. Picked it up on sale $349 @ home depot.
