Well I definitely have to lift motor to get pan out lol...

It's too fucking cold and i didn't setup a heater my fingers and toes were starting to hurt so I left it for tomorrow lol. I think I need to buy some black rtv anyways

in good weather turning wrenches is actually fun a few beers, a joint and a few friends stopping by to criticize, there is nothing better but working in the cold is a such a pain, fingers feeling like you are 90 years old with rheumatoid arthritis. i dont miss montana or maine weather when it comes to cars.

No shit. Working in the cold sucks lol

Nice! What you doing for tuning?

Srt4 map sensor, 36lb China injectors, hptuners, stock ecm

I'm going to try and get it running with the bigger injectors. Then switch the map after it runs, cause I have to change wiring a little with a different plug

Oh nice! Though you may have to do a standalone or something else.  :noel:

def.

i went to put the injectors in and they are ev1 style connectors instead of the ev6 ones i thought i got.

so i had to buy some adapters, they were only 12 bucks. waiting for those to come, also i'm switching to use a honda map sensor since i don't want to go over 11psi anyways and with the srt4 map sensor the resolution i get in the stock ecm is really limited, there are only 2 rows that aren't in boost lol...

the honda one will work out better.

also, i had was using the wrong port on the wastegate, thats why the boost and lag was shitty. after i switched it the gate stays closed and turbo spools up really fast and it fucking rips for 1psi lol. i took that spring out and put in the middle spring, but i havent' tested it yet.

its faster at 1psi than it was NA by a lot. turbo sounds like its going to suck in children and small animals.

in hpt i just changed the WOT fuel table row to dump fuel after 1800 rpm. it was running 10.2afr and 18deg of timing and it still was ripping. i'm pretty stoked right now. i need to get the other injectors and map sensor in so i can turn the boost up

oh yeah also the oil drain was leaking a little i went to check it and it was loose so it broke off and i cleaned it up and jb welded it again with the more liquidy stuff compared to the puddy crap. the liquidy stuff works better for this kind of thing and it seaps into all the cracks and around the fitting

Anyone have experience with external gates, do they have an exhaust leak sound with no dump tube?

I hVe the fire ring in, but it sounds like an exhaust leak... it's very annoying

Maybe with no tube you cN hear the exhaust through the valve???

After I eat dinner I'm going to check the welds and vband around it. Maybe a weld cracked with I tightened everything down

It's very annoying

It was just an exhaust leak. Just fixed it.

V band wasn't aligned great and also part of the exhaust wrap got into the clamp so It wasn't getting perfect contact with the flange

Fucking thing rips even at below 4psi lol

I need MBC. I think it'll be here Wednesday. I don't want to skip straight to 8lbs

Gotta ease it in slow

Even at low low boost the truck is fucking awesome.

I can't keep the vbands tight. Fucking exhauts leaks

I would tighten them and the leak would be gone but after driving a little they would leak again

I think the bands were too loose on the clamping part from pulling them on and off a bunch of times

So basically I used new clamps, loctite, new and better lock nuts, then I double up the nutzzzzz with the ones that came with it. So hopefully that stops it.

I'm going to try it in a couple mins.

If I can't get it to stop, I also bought some metal crush vband gaskets to put in

waiting for boost controller to some saturday. i kinda want to see what the stock injectors can do, but also know i should just put the bigger ones in and not fuck around because i knjow its not good to run the injectors at a high duty.

put 36lb injectors in last night, and tuned for them. was really easy in JTEC pcm.

the values are microseconds and you just adjust +/-

had to go -51% fuel. runs pretty good. boost controller tomorrow.

the passenger side manifold to crossover v band flange has a pretty nasty warp in it... i didn't see it before... kinda odd. it leaks a little if you stand by the wheel well. but you can't hear it driving... kinda annoying.

i think i'm going to have to put a gasket in that one. might do that today, no way in hell i want to take it all apart to weld another flange on there.

Ok finally no exhaust leaks

It was the 3" clamp on the downpipe.

Same issue, worn out clamp from taking on and off while fabricating

Did same thing, new clamp two lock nutz and loctite lolol

Oh yeah and you gotta hit the clamp with the 3/8 impact

Getting some good street tuning in. Runs pretty strong at 6psi with 17* timing

I'm not sure where to go with the timing. 18 should be really safe.. but I see some ls1 guys saying they're running 12-14 but those heads are a lot faster burning and I'm 9:1 and I think ls1s are like 10. Something:1

It's a bleed type and it doesn't work worth a fuck.

I also fucked up some shit yesterday I went to Jack it up and the jack slipped off the crossmember and crushed the pan.

I beat I back out but it's warped and I couldn't get it to go back on...

So I had to buy a new pan hopefully I can get it back together tomorrow

Fml first world problems

I'm going to combine springs and hopefully get 8psi out of it and never touch it again

I ran it up to 10 without leaning out or any wierd problems... but the boost kept going up....

It's back on the road lol

Worked all day on it. New pan went on.

Started it knocking like a motherfucker I'm like ok fuck this piece of shit, but I looked under motor and the damper was hitting the block.... it was already fucked up a little wobbling before this but maybe the jack hit it or something the outside piece from the rubber was pushed back about 1/4 inch lol

Put the new damper I had on and it runs great. Tough motor

I'll take a pic of it next time I see it

Got about 7-8psi out of these two springs and it fucking ripz

It's a little damp out and it spun at 50-60 yikes

I got the part throttle tune a lot better. I needed to adjust the min injector pulse width because of the bigger injectors. It wouldn't let them go low enough I think.

Tough fucking motor lol. Been bashed on taken apart lifted up by the damper a bunch of times 222k miles etc lololol

Turbo spools up fast with no exhaust leaks and better part throttle tune.

Only 18 timing under boost these motors don't like timing anyways. Not sure if more would do anything

Running maybe a tiny lean at top rpm it went to like 13.0

Mostly int he 12.5-.8 range

I’d make it a tad richer on those spots, Modified my afr recommendation based on my last dyno run notes. 11.5 target at all times under boost seemed like the best power and safety overall
