- describe where you got vacuum from? Brake booster?
- carb hat need pics of
- pics of your piping(exhaust & intake)
- you thinking of making a IC or meth set-up perhaps?

I want to start getting parts for my truck. I was thinking a pair of HX35's and flipped exhaust manifolds.

depending on the motor two hx35s will be too big

vacuum comes from the full vacuum port on the carb (usually goes to modulator on trans with an automatic)
carb had is 5" pipe, that i used a ball peen hammer to expand to the size of the carb inlet which is 5.050, then i roughly cut out a top out of a flat piece of metal and then welded it on the top, then used a grinder to smooth it out. then used a hole saw to cut two 2.5" holes in it, welded two 3" pipes to that.
the exhaust is just a bend off the upside down lt1 corvette manifolds
the intake on the passenger side is just the bov and the pipe it came on, the driver's side is a slight bend that was in the exhaust that was on the truck before
i won't make an ic or do any injection with these turbos, when/if i do a single turbo setup i'll add an intercooler

Looks awesome Johnny. Nice work. Does it blow fuel out of the carb anywhere? We always use purpose build blow through carbs but I figure stockers would work.

no, you had to do a little modification to make the carb work but not very much.

Sweet low buck setup!  I'm picking up an 82 C10 in 2 weeks.  What carb are you using?  Is that a 305?

- Sorry I meant some t3/t4's or a single hx35.

- I was thinking a muffler hat would work the same as the pipe carb hat( since i have a spare flat muffler)

- Not sure on the aspect since its a $100 build but since there is only 1 bov is that enough for both intake runners? or since its only at 6psi it really shouldnt affect it that much? ( IF one were to build it with this in mind would it make a difference to run both intakes into 1 Y or T pipe and attach bov there?) or is this extraneous?

- plans for intakes for turbos?

- btw my truck is on propane( and motor has a million miles on it), planning to rock it as is, then get a higher comp motor later

however you can nigger rig the intake charge into the carb without it leaking or exploding will work. there are some carb hats that are really cheap < $100

i wanted to put the bov on the carb hat but there wasn't enough room. seems to work fine just on one intake but i would rather have it somewhere symmetrical. just my opinion

no takes, but you could put filters on them

Those are Dodge/Garrett turbos, baby 50trim t3's. At most they'll give you 400whp on a motor WITH intercooling. Regardless, I bet it's still a handful. Does it spool practically at idle??

I'd suggest you get a HX40 or HX50 with a divided housing. Both are cheap, would fit well between the block and radiator (w/electric fans), will aim right for the tophat if you don't intercool it - and support 65-99lbs/min of air. Those 50trim's can barely do 30lbs/min each, and taht doesn't factor in the tiny turbines.

If you are worried about spool, my friend's LS1 Mustang (yes) hits 5psi around 3500 with a T78. And that's a much larger turbo than even a HX50. It can flow something like 1500cfm, vs twin HX35's at 550cfm each, or 1000 from a single HX50.

Love the setup.  I am surprised more people don't do this.  Seems like if you spent $500 it would still be the best bang for the buck and relatively smooth at idle.
