My new motor tell me what yah think, dont mind the oil all over the header it leaked from somewhere allllll over the header because the motor fell over while being transported! it was gay, and i got it for 330 cash

If anyone can notice any visual problems off the bat lmk, i am plannin on changin all the belts routine maintenence shit on it etc etc....got a weak before i put it in to

Replace all shitty parts from this motor with better parts on my orginal shit.
Spray paint the valve cover cuz that color is...GAYY

Can i spray the block with break cleaner, or some kinda of degreaser anyone got any tips or recomendations for anything else?

get a wirebrush, a tooth brush and a few cans of GUNK. Plug the ports with pieces of a old shirt/towel and then hose the motor down.

A) Make sure you put rust-inhibitor on anything that is rusting B) make sure you grease or replace any seal that needs it, C) do it BY THE BOOK, D) Don't cut, grind, or modify anything on it unless you absolutely have to.

From what I can tell that's an obd1 B18 with an obd2 b18/b20 valve cover. That said, check what oil pump is on it. Obd2 pumps are much better.

So i started cleaning some shit and prepping for painting the VC. All i got done though, cuz of having no money! wasbeing able to take the paint off the VC (used aircraft remover shits unbeleivable!) and cleaning it with some good old soap and water gave it an ol'fashion scrubbin (how bad of an idea was that???) I hosed it down and water got into those chambers but its like 95 degrees outside and its still dryin the thing is hot as a stove, and the thing looks real dry. Also havent got to clean the block yet need someone to help me carry it to the corner of my house so i can hose it down etc....While the VC was off i did what i could and cleaned around the camshafts it was pretty dirty did my best with a cloth to get er done! Pulled the sparkplugs out, idk how to tell if they r shot or not, but they look good to me i was just trying to get an idea of if this guy i bought it off beat on it or not. and theres some kind of hose missing from the valve cover to the intake manifold, so i need to buy that up its on the right of the oil fill. any ideas were to pic that up...as soon as i move the motor ill clean it i bout some GUNK! 2 cans 6 dolla

Plans for newxt few days...
Replace valve cover gasket and all grommets
Paint Gold with black letters or purple with lime green (if i can find the colors)
Clean that motor SHINY with some GUNK!
replace all shitty hardware with shit from my orginal motor.

After 1 gentle swipe with my finger after waiting about 5 minutes shit peeled RIGHT off amazing

20 minutes later like new Valve cover

The VC is an obd2 style, but there's one way to check the oil pump.

#14 in that picture is only on 96+ engines. It may have been added if it was swapped into a 96+ Civic. Same for the distributor, it depends on what chassis it was used in. There is probably some magic to decifer those numbers, but generally the pump style is all you care about, assuming it has good compression & leakdown numbers. You can check compression outside the car by bolting a tranny on and jumping the starter (and WOT), just make sure it has oil in it.
