if you're not working out when you start up you'll drop 15-20 pounds in a week or so just due to water weight.

What are you calling working out? A lot of people are like that though, it's a random happy medium that your body likes to stay at, and it takes a lot of work to go one way or the other

you need to re-train your muscles to a new routine. use them in different orders (the concept of the p90x shit)

Muscle confusion, you aren't training your muscles to do anything, really. Mixing up their motions makes them work harder

I ran 8-10miles a week, light weight lifting. I probably need to do more if I really wanted to loose weight, I just went to the gym to check out the sluts leaving the tanning beds :yes:

Gym have a swimming pool? Or do you have access to a pool? Swimming is probably the best cardio workout out there, and it doesn't smash your knees like running on a treadmill. Stay the f away from treadmills.

thats pretty much why I quit going to the gym, I couldnt even walk up stairs after running 2 miles my knees hurt so bad $:-\$

Yup, treadmills end up destroying your knees. Cartiledge breaks down real fast under that kind of stress, and bone to bone rubbing is not fun. Swimming is definately a good way to build the knee strength back up, as well as the rest of your body. Swim 3 miles a day 4x a week, and see if you don't get visible results in a month

They don't provide the total workout like swimming, but it's a good way to reduce stress on your knees and still get a decent cardio workout.
