My turbo 342 build(updated again new numbers and dyno vid)

Added turbonetics 76mm turbo, bigger throttle body and a little more boost.  555 hp and 579 torque thru the aod.

Boost brothers turbo kit with their t-67 turbo. Gonna get upgraded to a mp t-76

SN95 car, or are you making the BB kit fit something else?

I really liked their hot piping for that kit, aside from forcing the MAF to be inline.  I've been tempted to call them and try to get it by itself and put realy hardware on it.

This is going into my 95. So far the piping does seem really nice. Its hard to beat for the price to. It really doesn't seem like the typical chinese stuff.

BB has some stuff for BMWs that make the early crackalicious SSAC stuff for Hondas look good, if I hadn't seen the SN95 kit in person I'd be deriding it.  That, and the harmonic balance of a V8 helps keep the manifolds in one piece where dynamically unbalanced 4 cyl vibrate them apart. 

FYI, the car I tuned with that kit had an E-cam, but stock fuel pump.  On wastegate he was running out of fuel past 5500 rpms, so we set the revlimit at 5300 rpms and told the guy to come back when he had more money.  I forget the 1/8th mile ETs (poor, with 2.2+ 60'), but it's trapped 99 mph like that.  I think you'll be pleased with how the car turns out on the china snail.

Anywhere above 500 horse on this car would make me smile! I've got a glenn's performance sumped sleeper tank allready in the car and I'm going to be running twin 255 pumps so I should not have any fueling issues. I've allready got -8 feed lines in this car.

Is it just me or do almost all v8's run headers with stamped collectors? is it that much harder to run/build a standard merge?

It's pretty irrelevant to those guys when it's not hard to get power out of all that displacement.  Unless you drop the ball completely and don't give the motor any timing.

thats how it is unless youre dealing with huge dollar manifolds.

Timing is key! Keeping this one from making 500 should be the challenge. That and keeping the wimpy block in one piece.

Yeah I remember reading about these blocks making more than 500bhp and seeing huge cracks in valley of the block.

I thought the stock blocks were good to 600? Maybe its 500 wheel hp.

The 351 windsor blocks are stronger in general and the early ones are the strongest but that rule even works on 302's. Mexican 302 blocks are some of the strongest factory ones. Unlike in chevy land where mexican block = junk.

After '69 the 302 blocks were weak.  People make a big deal about the lightening campaign of '85, but that was an intelliegent weight reduction and the blocks aren't really any weaker after '85.  The general rule of thumb is 450 is the safe limit of a regular block, but it's really the wild west and some people get 600 out of them for a while. 

Goforth's Procharged 5.0 broke the harmonic balancer off of the front of the motor, as well as part of the timing cover area.  He went back with a Mexican (nodular iron) block, made 621 whp Dynojet numbers.  Pretty stout car, held together for a while.  Stolen over a decade ago, he won't even break out the pictures of it because it makes him sad. 

A lot of the SBF stuff is getting inexpensive, and I like the cars a good bit.  The torque and the breadth of the usable powerband is impressive and really slings the car down the road.  I feel less safe in your average okay suspension V8 car than I do in a rickety overpowered FWD, but the cars that hook really well and do so in a stable fashion are AWESOME to ride in.  I'd love to see more build threads like these on RHMT.

My friend did it the smart way, notchback + [his scrapped camero's] built LS1. The T78 gets 5psi by ~3200rpm, but fucking rips it up. It used to be a stock block cracking 500 with spray (in the f-body), and he says the turbo setup feels far more ballsy, even considering the weight reduction.

Engine is in, Built lentech aod is in, Got most of the efi harness in, Most of the turbo kit on.

Out here they have a decent reputation. No worse than any other trans company. I've seen and broken almost everything out there. Anything specific to watch out for with the lentech?

Depends on what you bought, and what features it's supposed to have.

Anything that let's you shift 1-3 and then activate the AOD separately tends to just, not work right.

It seems to be 50/50 locally whether or not they work, and about the same result on YB.
