I was wondering when this would happen.
Some of the Camrys are being assembled in Subaru factory in Indiana for the last 3 yrs.
Toyota owns 16.5% of FHI. FHI part company of Subaru.
That explains why toyotas have sucked ass for the last few years.
The camry has never been on the highest stair for reliablilty. I reference the 5S-FE. Rod knock at 125k miles like fucking clockwork for about 1 in 4 of those bastards. More than likely poorly maintained, but non-the-less, its there.
really havent dont one yet/scene one yet, been working for 6 years at the largest dealership on the east coast of snowland downward of montreal, but then again that motor hassent been produced in 8 years so hardly a few years ago..... i have however found that alot of times a timing belt can cause a flutter against the timing cover to resemble a motor knock sound in which a shop will recomend a motor when not needed, but hey its a gravy flat rate job so more wrong diag the better for me
Sir, the oiling/clearance problems with the later 5S are well known. The earlier blocks are not anywhere near as susceptible, but it still happens.
Take an engine with a piss poor oil system to start with, add a pair of balance shafts beneath the crank, combined with owners' lack of maintenance and the high oil change intervals subjected to the OEM by the government, and toss in the generally shitty quality of oil today = Recipe for disaster.
You are also in Canada, where cars actually need 5w-30 oil for colder climates, as opposed to south of the mason/dixon where everyone should be running at least 10w-30, but dont because of what it says on the fill cap.
Case in point, 5S= Junk.
