Toyobaru
« on: October 06, 2009, 10:24:36 AM »

Supposedly will cost around 20k, light, 2.0l subie boxer, and RWD.

I think Toyota would sell a shitton.

Concept interior looks like shit.

I would buy.

You'd figure Toyota would put one of their own engines in it.  I would like to see it in action... I don't think I've seen a subie engine with a RWD setup.

Ass end kinda looks like a Chrysler Crossfire + BMW

Kinda makes me think of a modern RX-7 rear with it going across the top there.

Subaru is making their own version from the same chassis/drivetrain, just won't be sold here.

I was wondering when this would happen.

Some of the Camrys are being assembled in Subaru factory in Indiana for the last 3 yrs.
Toyota owns 16.5% of FHI. FHI part company of Subaru.

The camry has never been on the highest stair for reliablilty.  I reference the 5S-FE.  Rod knock at 125k miles like fucking clockwork for about 1 in 4 of those bastards. More than likely poorly maintained, but non-the-less, its there.

Why do all new "performance" cars resemble a 350z/crossfire/genesis. Gay

Definitely not CRX light, but compared to the other shit on the road it could be pretty light.  According to its wheelbase, it's pretty damn small.

I'm not impressed.. as others have stated; looks like a 350z/G35.
also, outsourcing the engine = fail
troublesome maintenance of boxster = fail
that sums up to no positive outcome.

why not try to reinvent the oldschool 1970 celica into a performance car, like GM and Ford are doing with their classics.

Fixed it for you. I dont like toyota S series engines. They are sub-par to their competition.

really havent dont one yet/scene one yet, been working for 6 years at the largest dealership on the east coast of snowland downward of montreal, but then again that motor hassent been produced in 8 years so hardly a few years ago..... i have however found that alot of times a timing belt can cause a flutter against the timing cover to resemble a motor knock sound in which a shop will recomend a motor when not needed, but hey its a gravy flat rate job so more wrong diag the better for me

At 15K miles year average mileage, that makes a typical 125K mile motor eight years old.  You ever notice how 90% of your cars stop showing up after warranty because dealerships fuck people on service work??  Yup, that's right, you know jack shit.

Go make your n00b post, I have $5 that says it fails and you tuck your tail and go back to performing a lot of oilchanges without the lip service.

Sir, the oiling/clearance problems with the later 5S are well known.  The earlier blocks are not anywhere near as susceptible, but it still happens.

Take an engine with a piss poor oil system to start with, add a pair of balance shafts beneath the crank, combined with owners' lack of maintenance and the high oil change intervals subjected to the OEM by the government, and toss in the generally shitty quality of oil today = Recipe for disaster.

You are also in Canada, where cars actually need 5w-30 oil for colder climates, as opposed to south of the mason/dixon where everyone should be running at least 10w-30, but dont because of what it says on the fill cap.

Case in point, 5S= Junk.

Needs turbo 3sgte

Meh. Put its guts on the table next to a six-bolt 4g63 and prepare to laugh.

Toyota seemed to over-build their performance transmissions, but skimped out a bit on SOMETHING in all their motors that dont have JZ in the engine code.
