your favorite burger
« on: March 16, 2009, 07:27:39 PM »

It's almost getting to be that time of the year again where a burger on the grill and a cold beer is just the best thing life can give you on a hot summer day.

What do you like on your burger?

I myself created one of my best burgers of all time tonight.

80% angus beef grilled to 145deg
fried (browned) portabellos/onions
When the temp of the burger was at around 135deg I threw on the fried mushrooms/onions, I added peperjack cheese and jalapenos

all on a wheat roll
added fries, washed it down with some fat tire ale and it was slammin.

So whats your favorite burger concoction.  O0

x2

I know you're talking about on the grill, but damn those burgers are good.  I would choose spending $6 at five guys over spending $6 at any other fast food restaurant ANY day.  The vegetables are actually FRESH.  For example, the lettuce is crispy and the jalepenos are bright green and crispy LIKE THEY SHOULD BE, not the shit out of a jar.

I don't know how they get the meat tasting so good and being so greasy, but damn.

mmmm

Get a used propane grill for free off of craigslist, I see plenty of them, now is a good time to check.

I prefer charcoal if at all possible and have only owned charcoal grills, but some day I will probably get a propane one for home just for convenience. Any other place though like tailgaiting or camping it's charcoal all the way!

But I picked up a webber silver series propane grill, it was used maybe 20-30 time. I snaged it for $35. Its a $400 grill, it cooks realy even. And a propane tank will last me about 6months. I always fill them in the winter when the weather is colder so you get more propane for the buck. :noel: Its only about $13-15 to fill the tank. But I do like the taste of a charcoal better than gas, but there is next to no cleanup.

I like it when you cook up some bacon nice and crisp and crumble it then take your patties like nice 1/3 rd lbs and sorta make a pocket with it and fill it with the crumbled bacon and add cheese of your choice. then just cook like normal and bam.  stuffed bacon cheese burgers.

+1

Also I got a call from a Doug with a 256 area code today, I called back and swore a stripe up one side and down the other of the guy.  Then found out it was some dude I used to work with who never got rid of his Alabama cell number so his poor momma could call and not have it be long distance.    Dude's "carburetor" on his 91 Sunbird was loose or something, he wanted a second opinion by phone. >:(
