So really this isnt forced at all. You just are required to do this if you want government assistance. Its not manditory unless you want like pail grants and shit. In that case how the hell can it hurt.
They are currently called Pell grants, not pail.
For grants, honestly it seems like a good idea, but the problem is that Pell Grants were initially there to help out those who do not have the financial means to attend college. So the idea here is to add even more to those handed who cannot really afford college tuition? It seems a bit ludicrous to me. Maybe adding more grants based on community service, similar to requirements for many scholarships, would be fine, but to cut off Pell grants unless you do xxx hours of community service is silly IMO, but I am probably biased because I receive Pell grants.
I haven't read the legislation, and to be honest I don't really have the time right now, so I can't really from a true opinion on this yet. Seems like some extreme shit from the very little that I have read.
