1000 horsepower Mach 1 we just finished up.
« on: December 03, 2009, 09:33:07 PM »

We've been working on a customers 2004 Mach 1 in an effort to reach the 1000 wheel horse mark. Well today was finally the day. The combination is. Twin 62mm billet wheel precision turbos. Forged rods, pistons, and crank. Turbo 400 transmission. The entire car was built in house! Here is the video.

Sir, billet wheels have been in production for quite some time now.  Balance means next to nothing at 150,000rpm.

when you have 1000 hp behind the shitty paintjob its perfectly acceptable. and since you only have 66% of that your opinion means little.  :-*

It takes 387 whp in a 2500lb chassis to run a 10.00 pass.  Most 387 whp imports have stock suspensions and 2.0 60' times on slicks, or even worse they spent a lot of money on poorly valved low quality china suspension anodized a gaudy color and think they've covered all the bases.  A significant percentage of 387 whp domestic owners have some Quality fucking suspension under their car, and the cars hook very well.   As power goes up from 387 whp you see more import owners buying brightly colored china suspension (and never have the car aligned properly), whereas the domestic guys buy even better Quality suspension bits.

Fuck overcomplicated electronics that don't do anything you need it to, and fuck turbos when you can't even launch a NA import correctly much less set up it's suspension.  The import scene is traditionally really dumb, and everyone in it thinks they are hot shit.  There have ALWAYS been domestics that could flay any import, at any time when you perceived imports as having a leg up over domestics "technologically" speaking, but the simple fact is when you have a car that runs 9's you don't feel the need to hunt down and impress Honda Civic owners.  So the import owners think the trailerpark mullets with IROC-Z's are as good as the domestic scene gets because, as I already stated, the import scene is traditionally really dumb.

Yeah, I love how you can tweak the TPS to read anything you want it to at any point - I requested that feature especially for hotrex.

thats hilarious. this is how i percieve them. even though i started out as a hot rod guy. 74 nova custom hatch.

does no one else agree that the domestics have more recently picked up on turbo's.

like in the last 5 to ten years. before that it was like too hard for them. the engineering part.

hahah . i know they are some of the fastest cars and they got 4 second funny cars and all that.

the only boost you used to ever see on a domestic was a freakin blower stickin out of the hood.

That is how it is in my neck of the woods, blowers are the norm. ;D

Turbos are thought of for Diesels, Tractors, and imports in my area. :?:

I learned everything about turbo theory from Ford guys on the jyturbo mailing list, pre-HMT.  There are a lot of 50+ year old men, titularly domestic guys, roaming around the real world who know as much as I one day will.

I'm pushing my father to boost his Camaro next year, I hope he will agree to do it. I started by explaining how was working a turbo and how to install it on his car. It's a good start I believe lol

I'm not a carb guru tho, I'll have to learn how it work and how to tune that shit. I'll put a basemap and it's ready to go ;)

What I heard from a domestic drag racer is that turbo is too inconsistent. They can't get the same time after each pass. I don't know if it's true...
