Ebay turbo manifolds
« on: December 04, 2009, 08:08:17 AM »

I know the quallity of ebay turbo manifolds especially the honda ones but I wanna do a turbo build on my fox body and looking for some imput on wether or not to wast money on these. I dont wanna spend the money on some long tube headers to run for one year so im looking to go boosted by this summer. Trying to get the car on the road for as cheap as possible and am debating buying these manifolds shitty stainless but v-banded with dp If there held up for 2 yrs i'd be happy. Thought about flipping the shortys and  O0in something together. but for the price should i say fuck it buy them and rock it tell it shits or is it not worth wasting the money... Looking for some input thanks

Dynamically balanced V8s don't vibrate manifolds until they crack into pieces like dynamically unbalanced inline 4's do.  It's still china crap, but it lasts a good bit longer.

Support the turbo and I bet they will hold up for a good while.
The wastegate though I bet will off on the first bump you hit.  Especially that one next to the turbo flange,  sticks out far enough that it looks like the weight of the gate alone might rip it off.

But shit,  I bet if you add the cost of the flanges and a couple cut-off disks to cut them free it's still cheaper than buy the flanges separate.

I wouldn't waste the money. Get a nice set of oem cast manifolds and flip them then weld up a cross over pipe. and place the turbo where ever ya want. will last just fine.

I'm really curious if anyone has ever tried cutting & rewelding an entire CDM manifold. Some of the steel I've seen isn't half bad, so I'm wondering if it's just the welds that suck ass or maybe just the stresses from warpage.

It's the welding plus the fact it's china steel. Once the metal is fatigued from poor welding theres nothing you can do to fix it. Plus the collectors are made of cheap thin stamped steel. and the wastegate is supposed to hold to that. right.

OP, your an idiot if you buy that kit. hope it breaks and you crash and die.

good day

Reinforce it, and make sure you got flex pipes and it will last a while im sure. But if you dangle a giant turbo off of it, ya it will break if its as is.

True Dat!!

Buy some china shit, to only have it break, and then after youve welded it 90596704957650 times, step up and save some money to buy something that was made by someone/company that actualy cares about there product. So in the end you could have just saved the money that you would have thrown away on the china shit, and bought something worth two shakes of piss. THats why my build is going on 2 years now.  :-\

I agree.

I generally don't like buying chineese made shit. Truth is, if the US manufactured and produced more, the cost of american made products would go down. But given the situation we have, I still by some chinese made stuff. But when I'm shopinig, if I'm comparing items, I always look at where they're made and will generally pay more for the americian made part if it seems like the thing to do.

Have aaron weld you up some quality shit. Only thing chinaman makes good is the cast manifold. But you will have to modify it because the fuckers can't drill straight. Must be the slanted eyes
