ATV clutch problem. HALP!

2000 or so Honda 300EX.

Since I bough the thing the clutch does weird, never fully disengages.  i.e. If it's in gear and I've got the clutch in, the quad still wants to move forward a bit.  No amount of adjusting helped.

So, I bought a new set of friction/metal plates, springs and installed them.  Same fucking problem.

Any ideas?

its not the clutch cable.  I hooked up some vice grips for leverage and even as far as it'll go, clutch still grabs.

Whitey- checked when I changed the discs and no, no grooves. :/

Make sure its fully warmed up, when the oil is cold and thick they like to still move

right now there's no oil in the crank case.  I put the cover on with like 3 bolts to test it in case shit was still fucked up I wouldnt have to drain the oil and shit again.

Are you trying to adjust the clutch by just the cable, or did you try adjusting the clutch by the adjuster on the center of actual clutch?

Both.  It's not a problem with the cable but something in the clutch assembly.  I put a vice-grip on the thing that the clutch cable attaches to so I could be sure I was moving it as far as it would go. 

I think I need to look up how these clutches work so I can have a good understanding of how they work.

my quad kinda kicks forward when its put into gear even with the clutch fully disenaged but it wont move or anything just kinda feels like its n ot fully disengaged when you go from neutral to 1st gear

what your describing is exactly how all bikes/atvs act when you ride them. you got to remember most clutches have like 5+ plates and it just barely releases the disks when you engage the clutch.

I think all cop cars need to have turbo. nbspnbsp Then they would understand the necessity of putting your foot down and how uncontrollable the urge is to fucking rail on that shit.

Well I've had a few quads and wet-clutch dirtbikes before and I know what you're sayin but this one in particular is a bit ridiculous.  i.e. It'll pull me up-hill with the clutch fully disengaged in 1st gear.

Maybe it is a little better now and I won't realize it until everything is buttoned back up and I warm the thing up.

This happened to me when I put heavy ass springs in once.  If you tried both adjustments and you think it isn't right then you have the springs on too tight.

hrmm...I bottomed out the spring retainer bolts.  wrong move?
