my twin turbo rear mount CTS-V
« on: January 08, 2013, 10:21:26 PM »

i dont think i have a build thread here so i fighured i post some of it up here

this is round 2 for the remounted turbo setup and it last try. if this doesnt work out im doing a front mount f1x with a rece drive.
she had 115k on her and the diff and tranny showed every one of them. the diff sounded like a gear drive from a old v8 and the tranny pooped out of 2nd 3rd and 5th and was whineing pretty bad. so tore into her all the way in one shot insted of trying to pice it together over time as things failed.

things i have or are planing on/specs

5.3 iron block bored/stroked to 6.3
10-1 comp wiesco piston
prc 2.5 317s heads
tsp 224/228 581/ 588 114lsa cam
ls6 intake and tb
pacesetter coated long tubes 1 3/4
mcloead rxt twin and steel flywheel
ls-7 slave
t56 with billit keys and carbon syncros <--- still pops out of 1st and 2nd. will be getting replaced with a t56 magnum
C.S. 8.8 rear diff kit (alum case and 3.73 gears)
twin PT billit 5858 v band in and out .82 ex
twin tial mv-r 44mm waste gates
E-boost 2
inavative wide band
ebay intercooler 4" core
twin bosh 044 fuel pumps
jaz 16 gallon fuel cell in spare tire well
fuel lab 80 psi base reg
fic 1100cc injectors
devils own meth kit (14gph, 100% meth)
e85 fuel tune
blablabla

some pics are form the fist go around with the tubos, some are from this go around

the day i brought her home last year

axels and drive shaft for the 8.8 swap

old vs new

putting the stock cv outer on the new axels

the turbos

out with the ls6

1 off motor mount for the iron 5.3 into the V1

time to make some room for the fun stuff.

starting to mock this up

1st ss weld

the only way i could think to mount the turbos

the turbo oil cooler gone now

old one of the 1st setup all done

getting started on the motor stuff

wiseco 10-1 pistons and compstar 6.125 rods

old and new

PRC 2.5 317s with 72cc chamber

she looks good on the 275/50/18 M&H DRs

twin 044s in the spare tire well

my new charge pipe.2x4  1/8" wall. the old one was 3" round and a 1 1/2" off the ground under the x-member and at the back of the car.

thats all for now. ill post more in a bit

and shes alive!!!! i got her running last night with vary little drama, a few little leaks and bs like that but nothing major.

took her on a 2 1/2 housr drive today and all seems to be good.

next step is getting her tuned which is what is proving to be the biggest pita. looks like theres no 3 bar OS for our ecus in hpt and i cant get a soild answer about if there is in EFI live or if i can do a ecu swap to a f-body one this can do a 3bar os and still have everything still work on the car

I don't see any reason why you can't run a 411 PCM like any other LS1 based car.  Might be able to do a segment swap if there is special coding involved in the CTS-V for communicating with BCM/cluster.  Can you pull the cover off of the top of the ECU, take a pic of the board?  That would be the best way to determine for sure what will and will not run on your hardware.

if this was mentioned, i missed it. have you looked into megasquirt for a bcm?

also, why did you choose to go with a twin rear mount setup? was space a deciding factor? i have so many questions haha. i cant wrap my mind around the awesomeness going on in this thread.

alot of the supra and rx7 guys i know usually convert from the stock twin turbo setup up to a huge single turbo setup, they say it helps control boost flow more evenly while getting higher HP obviously. do you see syncing the turbos to flow together for maximum HP being a problem?

i seen something similar to this on like horsepower tv years ago. they set it up on a newer camaro? i believe it was. the idea is sweet, but i would be way to worried having the turbo/s under the back of my car like that. probably because of the climate im in tho.
