Well, the 8.8 has been cut and welded. I cut 2.875 out of the drivers side axle tube. Clamped it together with 2 pieces of 3" C channel and tacked it together. Rotated the rear 90° and tacked the other sides. Once it was all tacked up, I pulled the clamps and the c channel and burned her down alternating sides. Ground everything with my sanding flapper disk on my angle grinder. Saw where I missed and all my little pin holes and went back over and burned a bunch more. Ground down again.....lol so tiered of grinding. Now I was looking for sway bar perches (since it's also offset to one side about 3") and I can't find shit. So I'm just gonna make some out of my 3" c channel and burn them in. Anyways this is how far I got b4 I called it a day. Need to pull the stock rear now and slide this into place and see what the angle is looking like and once I like it burn the leaf perches in.










Last pic is of both sides all cleaned up. Once I get the old rear out of my nova, I need to clean out the 8.8. It's so full of metal shavings. Just gonna plug the holes and fill it up with purple power and hot water and let it soak.

Picked up a ring and pinion 3.08 ratio for $70 shipped Dude was asking $100 and we bartered back and forth on the price and settled for $70


Wheel drill guid/jig so I can convert ford axles to gm pattern and gm pattern to ford.


Picked up a chunk of 2" C channel for the swaybar mounts for the rear axle


Today I'm going to go home and pull the factory rear out of the nova. I have a dude that wants to buy it for $450 who is local I'll believe it when he shows with the cash. Until then I have a larger ass paper weight.

3.08 ring and pinion showed up,  was fucked due to shipper not properly packaging it. Sent it back for a refund. Found a guy local who has the same thing and for $30 less. Gonna swoop that up on Tuesday.




Sold my factory 8.2" nova rear to a guy yesterday. Got $450 for it. Feeling pretty good about that...haha

Still on par for summer of 2028. Car has been sitting in the same spot since my last update on this post. Its only been 3 years since I've touched it.  😖

Life has happened. Had another kid. Still married, working now more than ever. My familys business is booming. Coffee business is crazy right now. Lots of remodeling and adding things to make this company even more successful.

Making a goal starting October to work on the car at least 2 hours a week. Dont sound like much but 10pm at night is pretty much when my day ends. It starts about 445am.

Damn dude, that's one reason I don't want an old car. The projects seem to take too long for my attention span.

I don't know man, for me the Honda projects I've had never took too long, but every old vehicle I've had I sold before it was even close to drivable.

I think for me it's because the Honda stuff was so much cheaper. And unless you have a total shit box the Hondas usually required less work and parts.
Maybe it's because I was a broke ass trying to build a 65 nova

Shit, I drove mine for 2 years before I started tearing it apart. Tore it apart, had the LS in the factory front clip, then decided to do a m2 front end. Then decided to sell house, then move in with inlasws for 2 years while building house. Then moved into house. Then had another kid. Then decided to work on property.

Gonna start trying to put work in on this thing so it can hopefully just be able to roll around rather than sit on hack stands 😖

Well, got some progress on the shop done. Trusses arrived. Totally used the lift and ran a couple of heavy ratchet straps around the scissor lift rail and the top cord of the truss and lifted it into place. Shit worked amazing. Ran out of time and didn't get to finish all my perlins before the lift had to be back. I will rent it again and do all my overhangs and outlooks/facia. So far I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Everything pretty damn straight/plumb/square. Yes I could have paid someone to build it....... but I would have been pissed the whole time because they would do a half ass job and charge me a fuck ton to do it.

I was quoted almost 120k for just the steel building. Ill probably be into the materials for this building for about half that including the concrete. The steel building price did not include the 30k worth of concrete needed for it.

I'm doing radiant heat flooring in the whole shop. So as of right now I have about 3" of 1.25"- crushed basalt gravel down. I'm going to come in with another 2-3" and compact it, then vapor barrier, 2" of ridgid foam insulation. Then ill put down 1/2" pex 1' on center stapled to the foam, #3 or #4 or some other sort of reinforcement (might be galvanized hog panels I'm not sure yet) on top of the pex and then 5" of 6 sac concrete. Should be plenty strong for a lift but I am going to take about a 20'x20' area and do a thickend area for a lift.
