Just pull my washing machine/dryer from the wall and run an extention cord?

Going to borrow a mig from a friend so i can do mounts and shit for my piston powered rx7 to piss rx7 club off...... Well, pretty much to have a cool chassis around a motor that makes some fucking torque.......

Yes. I've seen the light. Fuck a rotary. I'm probably using 1/8"/3/16" plate and some box tubing to weld the stock KA engine mount brackets to some hacked up 13b subframe mounts. Reinforced with the box tubing and plate......

Need to know because there's no point in getting my parts car dropped off at my house if i can't do the job at my house.

220v ac is what our shit to wash our clothes runs off of iirc so i should be all good? Could i get away with 110v flux core?

yeah plug into your dryer or stove. You can also wire it into your fuse panel for darwin goodness.

most welders can run off of 110 im pretty sure, you just have to double your power settings

most welders take a socket that looks like a standard outlet but much larger, 2 parallel blades one is larger, and a ground below/above

some dryer ones have a up and down blade and side ways blade or other wierd shit

its differnt depending on the amps the circuit is rated for i think

you can probly go buy a receptical for the welder cut power to the dryer and swap it out while u use it. dont kill your self dont even do it if your not familiar with high voltage wiring

you don't need a plug. Just strip the insulation off the extension cord and plug the wires into the holes. Like this

LOL, well it was rented, but I rented it from my folks. So if it would have burned down I might as well have owned it... Did it lots of times never had an issue.

The wire actually held in there pretty good, I was impressed. Not gonna lie I have done it since then. There is a member on this board, that has an aluminum BOV flange tig'd on to his charge pipe that I used that.

Yeah, i'm not an electrician, which is why i asked.

I know positive, negative and ground.

I also know what i'll be welding will be close to a 1/4" thick so i dont think a 110 will cut it.

So i could swap the 220v male plug for a 110v male plug on the machine and be good to go pretty much or is that too much current going through much resistance?

Fuck. Sorting through google is fucking lame. I've ran alot of shit off a single 110v socket so yeah, it should work fine, right?

I dunno. My friend has his washer/dryer shit running off 110 power. Hardwired OUTDOORS at that. If his dodgey wiring works out then me switching a plug on a machine....... Whatever. Just yay or nay on that shit? I'm not ripping the wall socket out and hard wiring shit if i dont have to.

I think i may have to tap into the dryer socket, like it or not or find a friend who's an electrician to help me out. Really, i do not want to get zapped or light shit on fire that i dont want on fire.....

Running a 220v machine off a 110v outlet will fuck it up from what i'm reading....not that i believe EVERYTHING i read on the internet. Just seems to be the common thing i'm finding.

This is the cheap china piece of shit i'm doing my motor mounts and tranny mounts with. If it lasts though that without burning out.....and i'll be surprised, it's paid for itself.

Ok.

Here's what i've read.

It's the amps that matter, not the volts.

I have 2 60 amp breakers, 2 40 amp breakers and the rest are 20/15 amp...... No outlets on a 30 amp breaker even remotely close to where i'd like them to be......

Reading that, something would definately fuck up trying to draw that much current (especially on a high duty cycle welder) on a 110v socket wired to a 20 amp breaker. I'm calling an electrician and getting ready for butt rape fees.

Some things i find are NOT DIY. I could cut power but i dont trust the asshat that built the house.

Edit: No wonder my fucking bathroom and kitchen lights keep blowing. *angry face*

No way that's 1/4" thick..... Not even close.

It's been holding up fine on his car. Pretty much stock engine brackets welded to the rotary engine mounts. There is no added shit there.

That and a tranny mount doesn't have to be cock diesel in a car not expected to EVER make over 350wtq?

I have problems. Upstairs problems. Well aware of that.

just go to home depot and get some 10/3 or 8/3 wire, get a male plug that fits your washer/dryer/stove and get a female outlet that fits the welder plug. make extension cord and weld away. think of it as a jumper harness for an obd0 honda. the welders plug and your appliances have diff plugs.

He told me "get ready to pay a $2500 fine and additional fines every 15 days you have that car on the property. New town ordinance. I can get the motor but i can't have my car on jackstands overnight.....which really fucking slows some shit down. I'm stuck with the timebomb.....for now. The rotary WILL not win.

I'm still getting my fucking welder though. The city and my landlord haven't said shit about me welding in my front yard.

Watch it sticking wires in sockets like that. We refer to that as a hot spot. It's a giant resistor and can possibly melt the socket.

I would not do it like this... If one of those legs were to fall out then there is a good chance you could fry your welder. Just go buy a 220v cord cap from home depot. Its easy to install and take only 5 min of your time.
