There is low budget and then there is this
« on: January 25, 2010, 01:24:14 PM »

Intro :- I'm a student , i'm broke, and i wanna make my car faster

The car . 1989 toyota levin with a mongrel 4agze in it. Started off like this with a redtop high comp 4age

4age with sc12 s/c at 9 psi, 10:6:1 c/r, tmic no hood scoop.

Blew the head gasket the same day took it home from my friends home due to a busted radiator. Rebuilt with forged oem 4agze 8:9:1 pistons and semimetal gasket.

Cut the hood with a grinder to make a scoop and took the car to the track on dec 6th Run a 18.0 with a massive boost leak, only had 3psi , and all season tires. That was the last sraw with the s/c. took it off as soon as i got home and started turbo conversion.

1st manifold attempt

turbo hit oil filter and mount when mounted in car so i scrapped it and went to work on this

free t28

manifold on prop block and head

still need to port manifold run oil lines and piping.

As ghetto as it can be. Almost. Like the paint that's over sprayed on your radiator. Very  :mexi:. Just use pool hose for IC pipe and call it a day.....

My god thanks for all the props guys  :noel:

Looks good.  4a's dont suck.  What you tuning with?

stock MAP 4agze ecu for now. figured they good on 14 psi with the stock s/c so 10 psi from the t28 should be ok. a friend gave me a lil device with " GRID FLOW MATE " written on it has 3 knobs on the front and a lil colour meter that starts in green and goes to red. says its an old school tuning device. Gonna try to use that. Any one heard of it ? Eventually i will upgrade to megasquirt or AEM FIC when i can afford it.

As ghetto as it can be. Almost. Like the paint that's over sprayed on your radiator. Very  :mexi:. Just use pool hose for IC pipe and call it a day.....

Got the stock s/c tmic, 4efte tmic and a small fmic approx 12x6x3 inches i will mount 1 of em over the gearbox with the fan from my ac system on top, skyline bov and radiator hose as piping. total ic piping length will be less tha 3 feet.

Internal or External WG?

internal for now. have a bunch of em from different vehicles im tryna make fit. Waiting on a friend to swap out his cdm wastegate to his 38mm tial so i get get his.

niece build those blocks take abuse like no other

seen stock bottom end taken to over 450whp and hold up.

AEM FIC is pretty nice.  I've had one on my miata for about 3 years.  Simple to tune

Ive had bad luck with the FIC, trying to combat the stupid subaru ECU.

You should sign up at www.dorikaze.com, it will be good times.

Keep up the good work.

Why the fuck would you use FIC on a subaru when there are grassroots flash software for free?

FIC works well on somethings, and shite on others.  Hit and miss it seems.

For that car, I think id actually use a megasquirt.  Yes, you heard me right.

BTW get a chonged out WG for $45 and weld the flange where the original outlet was for the header.
