I love mine.  It doesnt suck. 

All VW, Audi and Porsche with DBW have it written into the code that automatically closes the TB if the brake switch is activated.  Been like that since 1999. The only car ive ever had a DBW problem with as a faulty DME in a boxster, that would freak out and go into low-rpm limp mode.  Boxster suck pretty bad though, so that sort of thing is expected.

I just don't get why we can't have DBW AND cable operated throttle plates like they do on bikes...? You get the low speed control-ability of computer control and the redundant safety of cable operated throttle valves. They do it on pretty much all new EFI bikes and the have 4 X the amount of throttle bodies so it can't be a cost issue.

never clicked the link at the beginning of the thread to know how many cars were affected til i just heard it on the news. HOLY SHIT! over 2 million cars recalled and stopped production and sales on hella models. really hope this doesnt hurt them so bad it puts them out of business

I like the MazdaSpeed3.  I haven't driven the 2010, but the 2009 was a good production car.  Suspension could have been a bit better and the clutch was backwards.  It engaged REALLY high for the first 10,000 miles according to all reports I read.  I couldn't drive it for 4 miles without getting annoyed.

This is going to totally fuck up sales for sure since it will take Im guessing atleast 3 months to fix all the issues at hand alone. Anyone who works for them or makes parts for them is most likely getting pink slips for awhile unless you get in the department planning on fixing the dbw issue.

You picked out the 263hp 280 ft lbs of tq car out as the "horribly gay" car?  Especially since any day of the week, you can pick one of them up for $21k before tax and fees.  The MS3 is basically everything the Honda Civic Si should be.

2010's are ugly.  2007-2009 I find to be good looking mainstream vehicle.  If you are looking for a new car for around $20-23k before taxes and fees, there are a lot of choices.  If you figure you want a car to actually have some performance to it, I'm pretty sure there are 2-3 choices.  The MazdaSpeed3, Hyundai Genesis, and .  Johnny, you do realize the MS3 comes with 260hp and 280 tq right?  It's actually worth its price.

Back when the first thread was started here, they were just about at the point where they were giving out shorter pedals. This is after giving new mats with a cutout AND clamps to keep it in place. Seems like they were in denial, then in the cost-benifit thing (like on FIght Club), then into oh-shit mode. Sounds like they outsourced on the programming & design, and the entire company that handled that died collectively in a plane crash...


Chris M I say you act on this and make some auto-safety thing for the throttle bodies. A simple relay tied into the stock brake pedal to kill the TB's power or whatever needed to get the plate to slam shut. With 2 million drivers not knowing if their next trip to get milk is their last, this could make a killing in the next few weeks/months.


I've seen tin whiskers talked about before, but rarely will it be an issue outside super-sensitive applications. They also take a while to build up and break off with the vibrations a car would see (before they get long enough to short traces).
