My buddy's Turbo Mustang
« on: February 26, 2010, 06:24:47 AM »

http://www.youtube.com/user/sneakymikels1#p/u/3/ak9ZiU_8XrM

He's not a bit internet junkie like some of you, but I'll see if I can get pics. I think the only stuff he didn't do himself was the cage and engine assembly. Can't recall if it's forged internals, but I know he needed a lot of work. Spun a few main bearings hitting his old no2 setup early IIRC.

Specs I remember:

built LS1
T78 turbo
4" DP, 2 feet long exiting before the driver's front tire
HP Tuners ems

11.7 @ 128 with old street tires and 5psi.

I have seen that stock engine, with just an intake manifold switch, and an 88mm turbo go 900whp and change. I have no doubt there are guys over 1000hp on that motor stock.

If its a truck.... its a 6.0l LQ4. Lower compression then the escalade version. Ideal for dont touch it, just boost it fun.

Seems like your buddy went like 9.5x's @ 145mph+ on a stock one with a pair of 70mm turbo's.

good to know. what kind of tuning systems are good for these motors and not left nut pricing? i wouldn't mind puting this motor in something with a large frame turbo someday

yea but not really bone stock. ARP rod bolts, custom grind cam. ported 317 heads, pushrods, valve springs, meth. pump gas. But Once you have that shit... you will always have it. Seems like a list but really its fuck all. Rod bolts are 68 bucks haha

cool, im not too fond of the intake manifold being plastic eather. i think a big turbo 78mm area and arp rod/head studs, decent cam,springs/retainers would be a good setup in a fox. i just need to learn more about these motors. id love a 600+whp fox with a ls motor. what kind of shit would you recommend for a 600whp+ setup.

Nothing wrong with the plastic intake AT ALL. the LS6 and truck intakes are very close performance wise. A ls2 intake will fit aswell. and can be ported.

arp rod bolts, turbo cam, push rods, valve springs, and retainers, 60lb injectors, speed density tune, and you should be laughing. That is if you get a solid tune it it to allow it all to hold.

You talk and think too much fat ass, DO SOMETHING.

for 600 you dont need to do SHIT to those motors.  Shit a 67mm snail will get you there and be a ton of fun (No pun intended tubby)...

I was trying to talk my old man into turboing his 07 Silverado 4x4 with the Vortec in it.... He got a little interested when I said 750 easy... LOL

Its not THAT easy. And if its a 4l65e tranny there is no hope in hell it will handle 750. At the engine yes. To the ground...no.

If you do not do rod bolts. they will yardsale with ease. honestly. we've seen it before and are too smart to duplicate it.

I wasn't involved in those vids, but I've seen him do that. I drove down to the Great Lakes drag strip and he kept doing rolling burnouts on country rounds. You'd just see 2 black lines start behind his car.

As far as notchback, that's what he calls it and I'm no mustang guy.

Notchbacks are major win.  There is this nigger around here that had a LS1 camaro painted garfield orange with black stripes that has the smallest supercharger making 700ish rwhp with a built 346 with at56 he ocul donly maanage a 11.1, then he swaped a th400 and ran a 10.6 or some shit, stupid nag.  Anyways, he also had a notchback that he put a LS2 in, raced him in the camaro and beat him.
