Just an fyi on the importance to proper teaching and how going to a class will do wonders.

I never welded anything in my life. So i went to a local welding school/fab shop and took a $300 8hr class on tig welding. They told me how to do everything for a first timer from how the machine works to spoting what a good weld looks liek, etc, etc...

Now in this 8hrs i went from knowing jack shit to being able to run t-joints and weld pipe. Albeit not well or pretty looking but i could lay a bead down, and not fuck shit up like you. BTW, i almost went through a full 300+ cu. ft. tank welding that day. So i got a ton of actual weld time.

So whats the point, get someone that knows a thing or two and have them sit you down and teach you things.

sharpend the tungsten and tried to weld arc still wouldnt start.. (i can now hear gas flow though)

so i set the ground clamp onto the vice itself and tried to weld didnt get an arc..

after laying down a bead and going back for a second.. it started arcing without scratch start

and i just fucked around for a minute.

got to go downtown

atleast now i know that the machine works and its just my fail

still need to get a flow regulator though..

so 200cu ft tank @ 15cfm will go empty in 13 minutes?

no you should be good for around 13 hours

Old dudes at welding shops are the greatest people alive, they make baby Jesus and hot women with low self esteem look rude and uncaring. i welded.. its ugly.. but its a weld

im even more hyped up too

put together the band saw today that should help out alot tomorrow with cleaner cuts and shit...

i fucked up my cup earlier so its hard to weld till i get a new cup

buying a bench grinder tomorrow and im confident ill be able to lay down a halfway decent bead

It's simple, tell them your having problems with your welder and you need someone to come look at it. they send some guy to come look at it and test it. You ask him to set it up properly if it's not. You pay him money because your a fucking idiot that has no ability to set up a welder, or take anyones advice.
