im looking into the same thing... not to make my car lower, just to make it more functional at the current height (CRX/ED8 chassis)...

My ball joints are crap after only 30k miles and I can not compete in auto-x next year with shitty ball joints.

Also I notice at the ride level I have front end at the lower control arms are almost horizontal and like the lca to have a little more angle(rest height).

I use to just grab a McQuay-Norris or Moog book and look at the back of it and compare dimensions, save a lot of money.

I'm sure that is what most of these tuner shops do and then put them in their own boxes.  :noel:

If was to want more camber activity i would toss a couple washers under the uca mounting bolts making the camber ramp up faster. Without changing axle angle

I use 2deg camber in front at auto-x setting ht.

0.5 deg camber for DD ht.

If you do drag racing, JD and other will remind you to set your camber to 0 deg. for the ht. when your car shifts wt. at launch. (when your frt ht is at it's highest)  :noel:

That is a secondary function.  The main purpose is to raise the roll center back up after lowering ride height.  Reduce the distance between the roll center and the center of gravity (roll couple), and you will reduce the roll rate. 

Just how effective are they?  I have no idea.

Yeah, I need to measure a bunch of things.  I'll be getting in there a bunch this spring, so I'll measure what I need to then.  I really only want to know where lowering starts to actually mess things up handling-wise.  Car doesn't look right at the stock height.  Not trying to be a ricer, but having like 4 inches of fender gap in the front kinda sucks.

I need to put in new ball joints again and I saw those and was surprise at the cost.

When I know that those joints root cost is a lot lower.

I see some benifits as far as keeping the lower control arms at an angle down closer to normal.  :noel:
