I would go D or B. Unless your plans are for a drag car. I dont really see the necessity of the B tranny for a street car with <500whp. Its just a lot of extra work and headache, for a better tranny. If you want the better gears, and are building a 400ish whp (I dont know your goals, didnt really read), go B series, or suffer with the EX/SI gears and a cheap single slam.

Oh, and if you did go D2B, adapter plate isnt necessary. But I kinda doubt youll get it done with JB Weld or Devcon. And sure as fuck wont with a Fluxcore, unless you shell out a pretty penny for Speed Factory adapter components...

Fab up mounts for a hydro B, buy the hydro pedals in classifieds, go f2b. If you go w/o an adapter plate you have that much more room for a turbo. Actually I'm not sure if the EF has enough room before the firewall.

Even if you got a basic F, an adapter, and a cable LS trans it would be fun. The extra torque would make the gearing okay, and some F22's can do good peak HP on stock blocks.

was thinkin a 88-89 teg tranny but isn't that closer to a d? if I went that route I would have  to do a plate. The b series think I can do without but a d I have no choice unless I weld extra material to the bell housing.

also found this looks pretty sketchy  http://www.b20vtec.com/forums/st-ann...thout-kit.html

By old school I meant 90-91 a1 trans they are 20 years old

If you go d series I think making the 86-89 d16a1 trans work in a 88-91 chassis the way to go. The one d series transmission that doesnt suck

86-89 D16A1 tranny will work, but take custom mounts. If I gotta fab some shit, it better be a B series tranny.

Fuck 90-91 small spline trannies. 92-93. Same spline as a hydro tranny, and same internals. Much better as far as options. You really just need a case. Then pick up hydro B16, LS, and GSR trannies, and start fuckin with your gear stacks.

88-89 teg trans are a d pattern.

As in D15A3, which was a last model year renaming of the Si trim EWx, sure it is.  If you think it's 88+ D-series pattern you're smoking something.

Four bolts match up, requires drilling/tapping the starter hole, and a clutch from mars to make it work.  Oh, yeah, make the mounts.

Cool transmission for beans, IMO.  86-89 gearset with 4.06 FD from a 2G Prelude and a B-series LSD is a great combo for boost, but it's a bit of work and the net effect is ??.  I like how strong the gearset "looks" but there's a lot in material selection and actual design that I don't know anything about, and there hasn't been a decade of kids blowing these things up to know the limits of the box.  Best case scenario you do a lot of work and fucking around to end up with something as strong as a B-series box (although theoretically a little stronger due to the built in cuff).

I wouldn't bother unless you were building a classic 80s Honda.

No.  Go through a couple setups that break 200whp by 6500 rpms off of pennies compared to what a B/H would cost to build.  Admittedly, H22 with Type-S cams would do the same and is sort of affordable if you want a turn-key sway... but you can get F22A free.

I was trying to give you a ration of shit, and you blocked it.  Asshole.

I hate to admit it, but the though of mixing H and F parts for a relatively cheap larger displacement mill is appealing even though they are boat anchors.

Needs moar K24 frank action.
