turd40 gone, cocaine and hookers 5.3 luxury barge underway
« on: September 18, 2012, 10:47:29 PM »

I suck at organizing build threads.  I change my mind alot.  Shit happens alot.  Whatever.  So far, 2013 has been going great compared to last year.  Still having some slight issues but it's manageable and i dont want to headbutt dents in my door anymore.

Engine- vg30et.   Pulled from a fwd maxima, rebuilt with $250 ebay kit. 9:1 compression. $200 ebay t3/t4 60 ar housing cold side, 63 ar hot.  2.5" v band adjustable internally gated 5 bolt housing.  Journal bearing. Wheels are are about the size of an hx35, maybe smaller.  i figured i wanted to go between stock and the hx35 for this.  I'm not sure what kills z cars other than neglect and stupidity

the cats meow:

Guys, i'm not sure if that restrictor is safe but if need be i'll just bore it out. put a twist type ball valve or tension spring ball on the line at the oil sending unit. all hardline.  Why not hardline?  Sold my generic e bay to a friend in need, actually sold alot of shit i bought because i didn't care about my car anymore.

quick facts:
VG30E 84-89+: Engine compression ratio of 9:1
VG30ET 84-87: Single Garrett T3 turbocharger with a factory boost setting of 6.8PSI and an engine compression ratio of 7.8:1
VG30ET 88-89+: Single Garrett T25 turbocharger with a factory boost setting of 4-5PSI and an engine compression ratio of 8.3:1

My motivation and assistance:
http://www.redz31.net/turbofaq/dyno.graphs.html

We'll start with the present.

I'm working on the mani.  Header parts are on the way.  I had to cut some corners and you know what?  Zero regrets.

Early progress?

Gave it my evil blessing bunny ears.

I kinda missed when it looked like this.

Wanted stock body...that aero was hiding alot of battle damage.....  I'll repair what i can.  Kinda want to gentlemen the thing up but not think to hard about it you know?  Standard resto shit....Next time you see the car it will either be moving or on the ground and not so ratty looking.  Black.  Not flat.   O0

Control: 84 300zx turbo ecu minimal sensors.    MS1 v2.2 +extra.  Not sure what extra is going to run yet.

Drugs:  255lb/hr pump.  Right now 259cc injectors.  I'll be maxing out pressure and duty cycle. These SHOULD be enough to at least break 300whp.   Down the line when i figure it out i want to run decapped side feed maxima injectors.  They are said to flow over 500cc's after that.   Hello transmission breaking boost potential.  Still, gotta crawl before i can walk......

Well since that's all fine and dandy can you guys answer this:

Is that restrictor too fucking small?   I think i bought it for a gt28r years ago and found it rummaging through my parts bins trying to raise build funds.

I was thinking about drilling it out and using an adjustable ball valve on the feed line.  Ideas?

I can't comment on the restrictor, but the women's orifices in this thread are way too small.
At least one needs to be being stretched in order to qualify for porn, otherwise its softcore shit.

Alrighty.  Still waiting on some fundage so i've been selling off some of my old ka shit trying to get it done in a rush.  It's halfway through october, i wanted to be running this month....still looking like mid november because wiring and fundage and setbacks.  Speaking of, tacked up my passenger side engine mount.  Turned ok.  Fucking drivers side was made hungry with caffine and nicotine running mad low so i will have to smack it apart with a hammer and start over again tomorrow......  Hopefully can unveil that batch of flux core shit tomorrow night.

We were supposed to start on turbo manifold today but between some curious neighbor talking our ear off and my helper having to leave after he got his ek dropped off at about 5:30pm unexpectedly (did vtak head swap and 5 speed swap on the rhmt price in a mere 4 days.) started to get dark and i was left disappointed.....  The important part is i dont feel as overwhelmed seeing the engine back in the car.  Oil pan clears everyfucking thing.   Sits about 3-4mm from the steering rack.  I would like to lower it eventually but whatever.  I dont care.  It's been so long since i've driven this thing that caring too much will just hold me back.....

That bungee cord will probably be used to secure this shit.   It's temp anyway.  I want an ebay core and aluminum eg half rad to be honest with you.  Just can't afford it right now.  Oh well.  Fuck it.  Run what you brung.

Hustling hard getting some parts i'm paining myself to sell, sold.

Here's what's not being used in the car n sold because i'm done fucking with trying to wire it up.  It's gonna make my head esplode reverse engineering both nissan and the previous owners hacks and overcomplicated shit in the wiring.

Stock cluster.  Stock hud.  Stock relay/fuseable link. 300zx turbo ecu.  The Stock chassis harness components tie into a central control unit and i'm looking at the schematic, how i want to simplify shit and it's just not going to work out using that crap.   Because racecar, we're doing it up a little different.....like what i should have done in the first place.  Orders were placed.  I wont even say what but it's some dank.

I'll open the boxes of new shit with you guys in real time.  =D

Did get some fun stuff handled last week.

Megasquirt 1 v2.2 arrived last week finally.  Volvo fmic got thrown across the yard. small fmic for $55 shipped saved me a boatload of trouble, time, etc...    :noel:  Wont be running this week at all.  I'm pretty much over worrying about budget (to a point) or slapping a time limit on here.  Probably have to drop the gas tank.....  =(

FFFFUUUUUCK I NEED MY PHONE.

I'm alive.  Manifold has some pinholes and a few small beads left to go and it's done.  As usual i ran the fuck out of wire.

I'm tired of this shit and as soon as i have $300-400 to blow i'll be picking up an everlast powertig 140a.  It's the cheapest switchable HF/lift start i can find with a good warranty.  5 years.   Gas knob on torch so obviously you control pre and post flow and there's no pulse or up/down slope control but no big deal.  It's an entry level machine for the hobbyist.  Granted i learned and worked on $4-5k machines i'm doing this for my car shit and dont own a company so it'll be fine.  You cheap fuckers who dont have a welder yet i am in over a year on my china freight/"chicago" electric 110v 90a flux core machine and i have paid for it several times over.  IF you dont have access and really want to make your own stuff by any means it's worth the $110-150 but dont plan on working miracles with it.

I've stretched it to it's limit.  Much like this woman enjoying a simulation of reverse birth.

My intercooler got mounted.  IT's ghetto as the rest of the car.  Things will come together next week i'm hoping.  Funds will be available, phone will be back on (pictarz) and my fab/build/diy shit will have arrived.  Buddy dropped of some 275 40 17's for my 9" rims.  They buldge like crazy and probably wont be too great for drifting (idk, they could be!) but i can work on my drag launches and drive around on them.  Homie hookup.  Highly grateful!

Tried to get a fuel cell last week but that fell through.  I may just order a 10 or 15 gal aluminum one for About $145 shipped on ebay and be done with it and that is absolutely 110 percent if my gas tank is titanic'd.  I have to wait til monday-tuesday to verify.  Love the unexpected shit that pops up when you're on a budget and trying to set deadlines.  Lol.

Das, get the fuck online and update your thread so i can get that extra bit of motivation.

I'm trying out img shack.  My phone wont let me upload direct anywhere, even to text.  Not sure wtf is wrong with it but my micro sd and my computer communicate again so it's on.

Rained today.  I took some current snaps after fixing a flat tire in the rain while fighting the worst cold i've had all year.

Grip?  Check.

More angle to be had here after adjusting lca, caster and camber.  Bear in mind thats an 8J at -3 offset with a 245 slapped on it.   Well aware there is no cool tire stretch or rim tucking going on in here.  Running in the 90's.  No one sleep in Tokyo.  Got it?!

omnomnom $200 china turbo hate onnnnnnnnnnnnnn omnomnom!!!!!

This is exactly what you think it is.

I bet it outflows anything out there.  Period. It suxxxxxx.  Never again will i do it like this.  It was.....something.  I'll say that.  It walked bad welding it and will have to be slap chopped again.  I'll add a flex section.  I still have my old rwd crossover pipe so will try to recycle that.  People have suggested i move the turbo over to the passenger side.   That'd mean having to modify my drain after i already put the tube behind the alt.  Idk.  Open to suggestions fellas.

Squirting and sparking.

This was step 1 or 2 of the megamanual instructions.  Lots of baggies still left to open.  I'm not joking at all when i say this was mad fun to build!

Lighter is same size as a full bic.   Tiny little box.

Until next time....

My jimstim v1.5 arrived today along with my serial to usb adapter kit and harness kit.

Started working on the stim a little bit tonight.  I called it quits about halfway through after i started stabbing and burning myself not being able to think because tired.  Trooping forwards i should be finished with it tomorrow and can play with it this.  I'm told i need a couple more bits for my ignition so i'll order those as soon as i can.   It's really motivating to just see my car on all 4's for the first time in a year.

CX racing.  Call them up sometime.

EMOTOR/EMUSA is another good distributor.

By good i mean they will look out for you if there is a legitimate issue or inquiry about their products because they want to be a successful business, not some seedy as fuck rip off "imma get rich off of stealing peoples money" scammer vendor flipping junk bin snails for $300-500 then fucking you when your shit smokes or is hitting housing out of the box.

Edit:  Compressor wheel was also balanced on the back side.  not with a mill like i've seen before with other parts/turbos/wheels i've had in the past.  Looks like nogs took a grinder to it until it came out good enough.  Lol.

ISIS is another company that offers decent budget snails but not where i got mine from.

2013 probably.  Lol.

I keep saying "almost done" but there's still alot more "do work!" needed.   I work better when i'm having fun instead of pressuring myself so no deadline.  Would like to be running after the holidays.  Xmas really takes a bite out of my "i'm going to do nerd shit with cars" budget every year......

I'd like to make it out.  I mean the car is mostly for me but i'd like to show people what can be done on the dime when you care more about playing with power and boost than you do being jdm as fuck.

All is going well here bros.  Went to the junkyard yesterday.  I could write 2 or 3 paragraphs about the trip, what i found, what i wished i had money to load up in the pathfinder but nobody cares about that shit sooooooo race car shit:

Obtained volvo boost tubes and couplers.  Even got a cool turbo outlet coupler that's blue and says "volvo" on it.  Fuck yeah.  I swear i want one of those cars eventually.  I love them.  they always have parts that say "pick me" every time i go out on one of these.  Would have gotten a couple of snails to if i had the money but walked in with $30 in my pocket....  We have to go back because we're feeling either f22 sohc turbo in my buds ek, another dirty d.  Being as none of us are ballers i said the v6 swap might just hurt his feelings like what i've been going through with my car.  Easy on paper, tough getting the parts you need to pull it all together......   Anyway, we love volvo.  Grateful for US shores getting those and saabs on the regular.

A honda lower header pipe.   The 2-1 with flex and 3 wire o2 sensor.  I can use every bit of that on v2 manifold.   Some random pipe i picked up off the ground that has some ok gentle bends to it.  not as thick as the honda pipe but the flux core can't burn through it.  I think the iron content in the metal has alot to do with how my machine performs so hopefully this version looks better too!

Z31 300zx front transmission seal plate, clutch fork, tob sleeve, slave cylinder and clutch fork boot.   That's the LAST of the gearbox shit in my hands i has now.   It took us 5 hours and alot of cussing, swearing, telling illegals to get the fuck out of our country, etc..... i got my shit and i am fucking pumped.  engine comes back out some time after xmas so i can put the clutch, starter, driveshaft and all that shit back on the car for good.   Lucky us the car i tried to pick this shit from last time was still there but this time i had some muscle with me and some z31 advice on getting the top bolts of the bell without removing the crossover pipe.

Still haven't tested my ms (because been busy foolz) but hoping to fire her up on my laptop sometime this weekend.   Junkyard work has made me pretty sore so i'm going to burn some fine shrubbery and prolly get to work pinning my db37.

Yes, i know it's time to "Do work".  It's always time to do work.  Lol.

Emotor was the place I got turbos and wastegates from when I was selling Ching Chong parts. Only had 1 turbo failure I know of and they hopped right on fixing it. A guy I work with bought a full turbo kit from me. Still running strong after 100k miles of 7psi. I personally won't ever buy another CDM turbo, but my goals in life have changed. I want bigger power and not have to rebuild occasionally. They are great for budget builds and low power setups.

Thanks for confirming how well they do business.

For safety and average internet talk box feedback i dont plan on exceeding 15 psi.  Seems to be the limit working pressure due to balancing issues.  I mean all the symptoms point directly to it, not oiling.  Granted this doesn't happen on everyones shit but it happens often enough to consider it a risk factor at which point if you had the turbo on the car for a year, crank boost to 18-20 pounds and the turbo shits apart that's on you.  No company should have to fix that.  You got your money's worth out of it.

All of them I ran 10psi on never failed, all I ran 15+ on took a shit in 3-6 months. I did make 400whp at 22psi on a vitara D with their t3/to4e
