Decided to put some cabinets in before I put stone on the fireplace.  If I do this right everything will be hidden and you won't be able to tell something is there,  Cut the drywall so there's no turning back:

Built 2 boxes out of 3/4" cabinet grade plywood:

In place.  I ordered drawer slides so I can't make anymore progress till they get here:

Once I mount the slides on the boxes I can put up cement board over everything and start on the stonework.  Stay tuned

Finished product:

For guns, drugs, and money:

Next I've got to build 2 mantles.  I've got electric ran to this one cause I want to put lights in the mantle.  That's the next project.

That is amazing! If I was a thief or cop or both, I would never think to look there. Pretty awesome storage for a home defense firearm. I would even go one step further...Make the unit in to a slide out speaker tower, then have it open (hidden hinges) and have that as storage.

I wish it was a million dollar home.  O0  The only reason there's nothing on the countertops is because I cleared off everything to work.  I just got done sealing the tile, now everything is back on top.

anyone still here?  I'm still alive and starting on finishing my basement.  Here's the plan:

Got the rough framing done:

Starting on my home theater.  I just got the projector to help with the layout.  4K 175" 2.35:1 screen.  Right now its projected on blue foam insulation

Here's what the room will look like coffered ceiling with led lighting:

Fucking dope man. Did you build all of your house yourself?

Man I'm having a house built right now and it's a total fucking shitshow.(I have built 10 houses from start to finish myself and 1 of those 10 was my own)

The framer we have for this house is a fucking retard. He has been at it for almost 5 weeks and he still isn't done. Wish I wasn't so fucking busy with work. I can't afford to take the time off work and build it. Wish I would have with how fucked up things have been.

House looks killer bro.

I insulated the whole room for soundproofing and hung the drywall.  Still need to tape.  Put up a temp shelf to check the projector height and seating.

With the screen size of 175" it doesn't leave much room for speakers.  I'm debating about doing an acoustically transparent screen, building a false wall and putting the speakers behind it like this:

I'd space the wall 3' from the existing wall like this:

the difference of moving the screen 3' closer:

Fucking amazing dude. Solid work!! I have spent my whole life around sound equipment but everything I was around was big production stuff. So it's hard to have a home theater for me if it doesn't take my breath away during a gunfight scene.

I just hung mine on the wall beside my screen.  Add some surround speakers, a good sub and call it a day.  Plenty enough to piss off the neighbors

Started painting and hung nailers for the coffered ceiling.  The unpained center section is getting a fabric panel which I'm putting fiber optic lighting in:

Have 9 sheets of MDF cut up.  Started gluing and screwing boxes together:

I decided against the acoustically transparent screen.  I'm doing 7.1 surround sound.  Here's what I'm thinking for speaker placement:

That's all for now

I'm gonna steal your under cabinet LED lighting idea for our kitchen remodel.

Any of you guys ever do your own copper countertop?

I'm looking for a nice option that comes in cheaper than granite slab, that isn't laminate or corian.

Look up granite tiles, or lazy tile.

Setup a little jig for the chop saw and started cutting crown:

Results:

Here's the mounting from the back of the crown:

Testing out the LED lights mounted behind the crown.  The are RGB so you can pick any color.  Tough to take a picture of:

Hopefully I'll be mounting these to the ceiling soon
