im not having such luck at the moment, probably because i want one now. found one a couple months back for 250bucks. think it was a 4.8.

going to make a stop this morning to see whats up with a motor, maybe see if they have any trans.

but i found an 80e for $550 w/warranty. says it has shift kit. 2wd and has HD converter (whatever that means)... idk. might do that.

Pick up the transmission now. And worry about engine later. One will come up, just give it time.

so i verified that the LS1 turns. but didnt get any further than that... i need to tear into that before i make any solid decisions on what im doing. but i think im going to build the LS6 for my car.

idk, you guys want pics of all this shit?

AJ. that should be LS1 cam up top, LS6 Comp 3714R on bottom.. LS6 was in another box. they where all swapped... thoughts on LS1 cam there? shit pic im sure. but got light spotting of rust. probably junk? $20? $50?

should be LS6 oil pump and covers. mint. im going to clean that shit and reuse it.  :Jew:

LS6 crank in its condom.

noticed that this LS6 TB is ported? but also looks like the butterfly is open slightly? good/bad?

also have bunch of headbolts. not a complete set though. missing 2 small fucks, and 2 big fuckers.

guessing these are stock? took a quick look at the other ones in the other head, seem to have same paint color. looks like i have seats, but no retainers or locks.

bunch of sensors. plus i think the LS1 has both of its sensors installed still.

MINT. this is the LS1... think im going to sell this one. and the early heads if someone will buy them?

NOTE:  order 3.898"/99mm ring compressor and ball hone. and probably main bearings.

going to try to take a look into the LS1 tomorrow night.

ok, so loose plan just looking at the pile i have.

LS6 block thrown together. like reuse the rings and shit im sure.
buy couple missing headbolts or just china stud it?
throw on the 853 heads with a surface.
run stock springs i have?
run the Comp 3714R cam
run DBW return fuel setup. HPTuners.
stock Z06 manifolds, cut, vbanded, to junk exhaust i have.

i need lots of shit still:
03 truck harness? or vette auto harness.
accessory shit: vette PS pump, alternator, tensoners
knock sensors, o2 sensors, coilsetup
TRUCK INTAKE. cuz im jew like that.
flex plate.
i know i must be missing more. my ADD is all over teh place lol.

the LS1 is fine. just a little cosmetic surface rust on couple of the counter weights.

i brushed off lot of the rust with a red 3m pad. blew it off with brake cleaner. probably hose it all down tomorrow then post it for sale. lol.

oh, and nothing funny in the oil pan, pickup or windage tray. all of which i will be keeping as its an Fbody pan i need for my car.

all for sale btw... $800  :-*

anyway. seriously dont know what direction i want to go at the moment. it WILL NOT BE BOOSTED THIS YEAR. period. just not in budget. i want the car up and running asap to roll around in spring/summer. ill build a boosted motor for next year once the car is sorted out.

LS6 needs:
ps pump, alt, pulleys and brackets.
knock sensors, coils/brackets/hanress
engine harness and ecu....tcu/pedal
complete intake manifold
starter.... thats like $400-600 worth of shit.

or, just buy LQ4 w/iron heads for $600... could throw on my set of 853 heads, why not. and the comp cam i have.

or, buy LQ4 and throw all the shit i need for LS6 on it from the LQ? i dont give a fuck, ill throw together an LS6 with truck acc and shit.... then ill have the LQ4 block hanging around to fab up turbo kit, and swap in when its time, sell the LS6 as bare longblock = profit/win.

how the fuck do i add a poll...

update... my hands hurt.

oh and:

i know how you all love the zip ties, but thats just for test fit. i got some rubber insulator and nylon clamps to hold everything thing in place once im done painting.

oh how much i hate you now... we did finally see eye to eye and got along.

not failures... just a long learning curve.

also test fit the suspension. had to trim lower mounts to fit LCA's. no big deal. also measured for brake line fitment (cheap/lazy dont want to order/find new hoses, so found best spot for them with wheel movement). also took some rough measurements for brake caliper fitment.

not pic on the car, so this is what you get. 2" drops, and standard length tubular arms.

think thats it. tomorrow going to try and get the rack where want it. then paint... i didnt drill hole for brake line mount clamps, guess i will do that once its painted. no big deal.

MORE!

looks a lot better.

some flux core shots. plus i welded that stupid spacer to the crossmember, only did a handful of test fits and they where pissing me off. didnt fully weld just in case i change racks ever.

first coat of paint on the crossmember. think i will be doing a second in some areas. kinda looks like shit. i canned one shock and brushed the other. dont like either.

so. i sold the LS1 and its crap. still have and plan to use the LS6. but lot of other stuff has changed.

engine management. was going to do HPTuners. after talking with buddy. man, expensive have to get OEM harness to hack down (time, little money) or buy pnp stand alone harness (expensive). then can run 80e which i really dont need. plus another thing is the learning curve and flash time.

so. Microsquirt2 v3 seems to be whats good. cheap w/half harness (needs cut to length, and connectors). quick flash time, simple. works. if and when its boost compatible. need trans without electronics.

trans. the rear gear i have is a 3.73 to put in at some point and 25.7" tire. th400 will be fine. 700r4 better. 400 will hold my power. 700 most say will hold my power, one seems to think no. then again it is an LS motor, and wont be doing much if any freeway driving. so i might not care about RPM on freeway anyway.
700 will require tv cable weirdness. gonna cost like 200buck for kit.
each will probably get shift kit/converter/crossmemeber.

oh and i spent another 20bucks on hardware for bolting crossmember back in. as at this point why bother with nasty used bolts?

note: order hone and bearings....

Wow, this project is sounding more and more like mine ;) Th400 will work just fine. Make sure the th400 you get has a slip yoke and not a bolt on yoke. Otherwise your gonna spend a little bit of money on a special yoke from Dennys driveshafts. Do the Jake's mods to the th400 and call it a day. Save your power glide crossmember and when you get your th400 and you stuff it in your car, bolt your PG crossmember up and tack some new mounts on the side of your sub frame conectors. Really easy to do. You will see what I'm taking about once you get there.
