fuck you direct drive drum...or whatever one that is... i win.
i stuck it up on end, supported with 4x4. and have her a couple good whacks with my orange mallet. so with the help of gravity (its always there to help) and hard surface it fell out.

couple shots of each as its hard to picture.
that shit ok? clean, lube, reinsert?  :noel:

empty block, and empty trans. even at that my hoist seems to be struggling...piece of shit.

front end/suspension crap going together nicely. probably how its going to look for a little bit. need to figure out brakes before the rest gets put together.

Shit it's a th400. If it ain't burnt, slammed her back together!!! Talking with Jake, he pretty much said you could almost throw just about anything in there with the dual feed mod and it will hold power.

right, dual feed mod. i still want/need to do that. i want the manual 1-2 and auto 3rd. probably going to fuck with the governor after watching a couple videos also.

also. not sure what your talking about with the crossmemeber. doesnt look like it will be close to wide enough to weld to connectors. gonna have to get creative i think.

also. i found tons of people saying that the Competition Engineering bolt in subframe connectors do or dont interfere with the brake cables. they do. and the floor. no big deal as i dont give a shit about either really. so i removed/hacked out the brake cables (long story, but i dont like the factory one, plus the explorer rear end) and ill throw a jack under the connector till it fits  O0  it really just needs a nudge. most do this.

That's why I went with the weld in conectors. They fit 100x better.

for some reason i was thinking these would work better for me. dont remember why exactly. maybe its just cuz its square tube. the floor/cables thing doesnt bother me at all.

UPDATE...WORK IN PROGRESS... :noel:

INSTRUCTIONS! big thing these days with all the china parts that dont include shit....
but no pictures, so i tossed them (ikea ftw)  ::)

if you remember these are "BOLT IN" connectors. instructions and internet say to weld them anyway if you can. and i can. plus nothing more fun than welding under a car, right?

prepped to fuse metal together in about those areas lol.

instructions say to use your 13/32 drill bit... fuck i suck at fractions, but i think i found it...

 O0 :mexi: :Jew:

that clamp is just about fuckin useless i know. i hit the other side with big hammer, worked mint. this is just a solid test run. not welding in just yet, as i plan to weld my trans crossmember tabs to this. also why i only bothered with just the one front bolt, and the nut on the front of the spring. just needs to hold in place for now.

NOT DONE... i got more...

i measured several times my mounts on my chassis to the firewall. and guesstimated that i need/wanted/guessed that 14" from the bell housing to my mounts would be good. well... there is an oil pan on the bottom of the motor that felt differently lol, by like 1/4".... so did some magic with the mounts (swapped sides) and got like 1".

sure it wont be super fun to pull that drivers head if needed, but it will be doable.

i beat the shit out of the floor/tunnel to clear the TH400, and well im out of shape and took its toll on me quick. i found a better way to mark it i think, so ill give her a couple more hits later. only spot that needed a message is where the tailhousing bolts on. basically the bolts are hitting the floor. also not sure how high i need/want to get her up in the tunnel? i bolted the trans cross in place and was aiming for it to bottom out on the floor boards.

OH, btw...

thats a 01-02 Z06 manifold bolted perfectly fine (no studs on bottom) into the nova..... also notice i have no steering shaft, thats good, cuz it doesnt have a chance of fitting... :(  good thing i didnt pay for them, guess ill post them for sale. and buy some shitty headers that will fit horribly.

to recap. there is an aluminum LS6 bolted into my Nova, its a good day.

DoWork!

bah.

i got some brake lines for the Galant...wait.. shit.  ::)

actually i did decide on some angle iron to hang the trans crossmember from. so plan to get that cut, drilled, welded this weekend. then i can pull the engine/trans back out, wait i need to hammer a little more, then i can bring the tailshaft to trans shop to see if they can get a bushing, one i received was wrong (even after calls and emails with measurements), and have them install it. then i will start putting the trans, then maybe the engine together...over the next 3 months...

just added it up. my list that im sure is incomplete. like $2500...how did this become so expensive? i even skipped shit like caltracs/springs...

true. but not gonna happen. too stressed out on this as it is. if i actually start buying turbo shit, will at least be end of NEXT summer before i even think of driving her.

i really hate having a car that i cant drive. now having one i can but dont (galant) doesnt seem to bother me so much, maybe because it my choice? idk. i want to drive, always make changes later, nothing is really permanent. i dont plan on getting rid of this car. so really, there will probably be many different engine setups over time.

these are what im thinking of buying.

lol, funny that its cheaper to get those with vbands than the mid length headers. didn't search to hard for them though.

if/when I go boost I would like one of those cast passenger top mounted jobs (KB/trick style). probably make my own similar to what AJ has done, but with a crossover for single turbo.

forgot i never posted these...

part number when i looked it up showed that its the correct manifold for my LS6 Z06 motor. i guess # is different if its not for a vette. anyway i said i wasnt going to buy one, kinda an impulse buy i guess. seen it, wasnt a bad deal, bought it. whatever.
LS6 manifold
LS6/30lbs injectors (or maybe 50lbs Delphi's)
return style fuel rail
cable throttle body that i forgot to run numbers on
all the hardware/bolts and a MAP sensor

nope, got my freebie, and keeping that. i have seen one or 2 on fb for ok amounts. like low 100's.
still back and forth on the injectors. i hid them in my toolbox. got such a good deal on them, might as well hold onto them in the chance that i will use them later.

WORK...  :noel:

my back hurts, but wanted to put in some work... actually now that i write this, it feels better. probably because i have been standing and its not tweeked from sitting... anyway.

honestly i dont know much of anything about this cam. lol. i did a quick search and found some numbers, sent them to a buddy, he said it would work. lol. it was free. so whatever.
it was installed in this LS6 before. dont remember if he said it was on the NA or supercharged setup.

oh, and i bought this:

was $60 shipped. not bad i guess. still need to figure out (and find) a power steering pump/bracket/etc, and go to junkyard to grab an alternator. i think i can use a 4.3L alt?

stay tuned, there might be more progress...might lol.

filed/gapped the rings. upper to .60mm and lower to .65mm. like .023/.025"... most all my tools are metric.

rods/mains are whatever they are. i dont check them. engine spins = win.  :-*

oh same note. i torqued the rods to 35 and mains to 60.  :mexi:

all these parts seem to have been cleaned, then put away halfass. they all are dusty/dirty. thankfully most of them are rust free. makes cleanup quicker. but most this crap took lots of brake cleaner, water, towels, etc to get ready for assembly.

so, lots of cleaning and filing of rings. over that shit.

need to order:
3 head bolts (have new set, just missing 3 for some reason)
2 headgaskets
front cover gasket? mine seems to be missing, swore i had one. maybe gave it away with LS1?
crank pulley bolt
torrington upgrade (needleless/bushing style)
water pump gaskets
plastic oil passage plug thing i broke.

if im doing it, im not putting needle bearings back in.

and really in my searching all i find is broken comp bearings, not stock ones. so not even sure i should bother. but for $160 its almost worth my piece of mind. also matt commented that he only does springs and has never had a failure.
