Project ten second D15
« on: May 25, 2009, 08:57:18 AM »

Well couldnt cut and paste with updates from the old thread so i will start over.

Well decided to put the VX back together this year after selling the old setup off and stripping it down. Here was the old setup

(FUCK OLDhmt!!!!)  ran some 11.6 at 118mph with that and now looking to go tens. Big thanks to dvst8r for the help with the roll bar and other stuff.I decided enough of the B series shit time to get back to the dirty D :y

92 Civic VX Comp Eng roll bar kit me and Brett [dvst8r] welded in,painted by a old drunk guy in his barn/garage thing :D its stripped inside with a alum dash that cost $60 O0

Motor- D15B vtec 75mm Vitara pistons,FJT rods,Crespo springs and retainers :l, Colt cams regrind,Skank int mani,edelbrock TB

Tranny- stock SI/EX tranny replaced a couple seals and a bearing as well added a OBX diff and a LSD 6puck sprug disc heavy duty pressure plate and 12 lb steel flywheel.

Turbo- Holset HE351CW,Eville140 manifold,CDM 38mm gate,CDM 50mm blow off valve,Peakboost front mount and charge pipes from Urban Indians kit and a white tent 4" mild steel downpipe to CDM SS 3" catback :P

Fuel/Management- ECtune,chipped P28,Hondata 4bar,Precsion 880's,Walbro 255,Aeromotive regulator,LC1 WB and fuel  lines half converted to -6

Suspension needs som attention its pretty much stock with Skunk 900lb rear springs will get some shocks, urethne bushing and traction bars this winter.

Pics so far.I cut most of the brake lines out when I stripped it down and was gonna do a tuck etc but then realized im way to lazy for all that bending so i bought a box of Russell Speedflex hose and made SSlines instead way easier way to make brake and clutch lines :6

Strip down and new rad support

Roll bar install

Got the car back from the painter he did a great job for the price  he did the body work, painted the exterior, engine bay and the interior.Installed the alum dash need to cutout more holes for 2 1/16 gauges and cut it out for the SI cluster i got.

Assembled the motor and tranny the piston to wall clearance is .0fuckinghuge i can damm near drop a wrench through :-X

Got the engine bay ready with new brake lines and dropped the motor in

Downpipe is gonna be tight need to get creative to fit a 4" pipe between the clutch slave

I liked the battery in it's old location much better. Did you throw out the mount?

Judging by the huge ricer muffler, you sold the vibrant flat black too.

Okay some updates so the car is mechanically done just needs some finishing electrical inside the car i have a 3 3/8 " tach to go in beside the Tuner View as i prefer a standalone tach even though the Tuner View has one.As well i need to finish routing the interior harness make a mount for the ecu.Last the windshield needs to go in once i know all the gauges are working properly everything is routed cleanly etc. You cant take the dash out with the glass in :D

The downpipe is 4" adapter cut down then 3" looped around in a U coming back down under the pan then a flex into a vband. Its all flux core madness so i wrapped it after as its gonna cook the clutch slave its actually touching :?: The wastegate dump is 44mm stainless tube fluxcored to a 38mm mild steel flange :D Should fall off at some point but i will get some bends in to make a new pipe rerouted into the D.P later on.

Got these traction bars from skinny boys fab shop via ebay they were $199 and really well made nice quality joints etc O0

The car is running a CDM $149 3" stainless catback the fitment is good but the muffler is brutal fart cannon :-X This will be changed out for a Vibrant flat black at a later date when i have some money.

Now the bad news my brand new Ostrich v2.0 is bunk i think :'( It will not show up via the Moates firmware updater or ECtune and i tested this on two computers here then on Urban Indians laptop against his Ostrich where it does not show up either. >:( I think it needs to be sent back to Moates/Xenecron to be inspected. I might toss either some stock EF 240's in and a stock map sensor to break it in or try firing up my old Willems Burner and get Crome running but i dont want to be buring ten chips to get the idle-2000 rpms at a good AFR for warm up first cycle. This fucking blows.Ectune is really nice software though i made a basemap its really user friendly and smooth interface lots of options etc. I just wish i could burn chips with it.

Looks good, when you come out to castrol, we can fix the fluxcored madness, and put a vibrant on it. Even if I have to drag the tig all the way to Edmonton.

Nice work. Just remember man, you always run into problems when messing with your car. I got my shit turboed finally, and my 5th get syncro sleeve took a shit after the bearing above it decided to take a shit. Shitty thing is I was on the way the get it tuned. Good luck with the build, its coming together nicely.

Send the Ostrich back to Moates. They'll fix it for you, fo free. Just get in contact with them first before you send it to them.

Have you viewed that tunerview at an angle before? You may want to box it out (or in) so you view it flat instead.

You need to buy a nitrous kit.  Haven't you heard?  9's are the new 10's.
