holset silencer ring

other then noise do these make a difference?
rebuild manual says it makes no difference in cfm (any one confirm this?)
also how loud can it get on a D ?

makes no difference at all, just spools louder.
Took mine off the HX35 the moment it arrived in a package.
Take it off, the only reason it's there in the first place is that diesels run huge amounts of boost and whistles loud as fuck, dodge got complaint for loud noise and these were put in to quite it down. Didn't affect or improve anythign other than the noise level.

Holset's with silencer rings are only found in passenger vehicle applications. 95% of the industrial equipment I have come across does not have a silencer ring. There is absolutely no difference either way, other then the sound. On a gasoline engine where you don't here the turbo when cruising I like the ring out, on a Diesel where you do hear it cruising it gets tiresome pretty quick.

You haven't seen a daewoo power diesel generators, have you. Kind of rare, but I have an HX35G from one. Had the ring which I took out, and it IS also water-cooled, bitches. Sounds fucking sweet!

When i take them off the cummins deisels at work it's fucking loud, 30psi+ and they fucking hum. I get erections from it, is that bad?

I have bought them from Cummins western Canada, just like that. Like I said lots of industrial applications come with out them.
