you going to sandblast and bondo everything before paint?
Everything is getting sandblasted. If the metal is really pitted I will bondo but I'm hoping to use some high build primer to cover everything up. I'm new to bodywork so I'm still doing research on what to buy/do. So I've been avoiding sandblasting any parts that are going to get painted until I bough all the supplies. Right now I'm just cleaning up motor parts:
That chrome came out really well. Considering what ebay has em going for, it might be worth it to get em dipped.
What these things go for is way too random. Some go for $800 unrestored and virtually the same bike will go for $200 the next week.
I don't think I'll get my money back if I chrome the parts so I think they look good enough but I still think I can get them better.
So are you going to repaint it orange?
I'd like to but I'm having trouble finding it. I'm looking at Duplicolor's stuff (aerosol) but all the local stores don't have the original orange. I'm going to try and keep all original colors except the wheels and handlebars are probably going black and the front forks are going silver. These are all chrome parts that are too far gone to restore the original chrome.
if you're not selling it right away, get a 10$ B$S motor and turbo that for a while...., 1v draw through style!!
I have another frame and motor that I might do it on. I got the fever to do another minibike. A turbo one with one of those Heineken mini kegs for a gas tank would be cool.
