Find a bumper resto company and see if they can do anything with those fenders. I think those fenders have more shine to come out of them. You try some good ole never dull? $3 a can at walmart.

pretty sure a torque coverter uses fluid to transfer the power to action...that is a centrifugal clutch, found on most small engines...if it is actually worth it to redo that motor and keep it as a collector's item, go for it...otherwise, i'd find something bigger to slap in that thing. Those minibikes/trailbikes are fuckin sweet trail riding, just not super fast

They used to call CVT's torque converters back in the day. Now known as Constantly Variable Transmission. There are all kinds of things you can do to tune the shift rates, look up snowmobile clutches.

hugger orange is a great colour, i'd stick to it, and if you're not selling it right away, get a 10$ B$S motor and turbo that for a while...., 1v draw through style!!

Everything is getting sandblasted. If the metal is really pitted I will bondo but I'm hoping to use some high build primer to cover everything up. I'm new to bodywork so I'm still doing research on what to buy/do. So I've been avoiding sandblasting any parts that are going to get painted until I bough all the supplies. Right now I'm just cleaning up motor parts:

What these things go for is way too random. Some go for $800 unrestored and virtually the same bike will go for $200 the next week.

I don't think I'll get my money back if I chrome the parts so I think they look good enough but I still think I can get them better.

I'd like to but I'm having trouble finding it. I'm looking at Duplicolor's stuff (aerosol) but all the local stores don't have the original orange. I'm going to try and keep all original colors except the wheels and handlebars are probably going black and the front forks are going silver. These are all chrome parts that are too far gone to restore the original chrome.

I have another frame and motor that I might do it on. I got the fever to do another minibike. A turbo one with one of those Heineken mini kegs for a gas tank would be cool. :yes:

Anyone know how to do bodywork?

There's some bad pitting in some spots. Would some high build primer fix these spots or do I need to bondo?

yeah, gouge that area out with a grinder, and bondo that sucker up, and sand smooth. then hit it with self etching primer. self etching will bond to the metal better.

i tried building up with some primer once, and it didn't tur out to well. i would definatley suggest the bondo if you want it to turn out right. body work takes patience

I would probably cover the entire thing with bondo and sand the entire thing. And dont go to walmart and get the "bondo" brand. Go get some good 3m stuff from napa.

For the chrome fenders, you'll have to put some serious elbow grease into them. Start sanding. Start off with 800 or 1000 grit and work your way to the finest grit you can find. Then polish it using various stage polishing compound/liquids. It'll turn out like glass. :yes:

Progress has been slow on this thing but I'm getting my act together to finish it. I finally got the wheels disassembled, sandblasted and painted. The drum brakes were siezed together becuase of all the rust and was a fucking pain in the ass to separate. I didn't dismount the tires so its like a Macco job where they paint your tires for free:

I finally honed the cylinder. I was debating on weather to paint the motor black or leave it bare metal like the original. I figured if I didn't do anything it would eventually look like shit so I ended up using steel wool, polishing compound, acetone than finally painting the block with clear engine enamel. I think it turned out ok. I just now need to get all the nuts and bolts for it so I can assemble the motor. Probably going to use socket head cap screws for everytihing:
