The middle arm and spring are for the injector to pressurize fuel.  3 intake 3 exhaust 1 injector.

there is actually no intake valves eh, it's a 2 stroke, all valves on the outside of the injector are exhaust valves

Holy shit!  We were just talking about this thing at work last week.  One of the guys there that is into MX was telling me that Honda had made an engine with oval shaped pistons.

They stop b/c of ring sealing issues.

Originally used for Superbikes 500cc class Honda never won higher than 3rd place with these.

That was in the '80's then they released a 100 model run of the NR 750 for street at $90k in 1990.

If I ever get the nerve to buy a bike I want this one used I've seen them for $12k before.

Wonder if this tech. will get revisited by Honda anytime soon?

A buddy of mine has gone through 3 20v 1.8t in his Passat in less than 100k miles.

Thats cause its an Longitudinal mounted unit.  Teh horizontal mounted ones are much better, but still 1.8t fail. 

That being said, teh 2.0t is a FAR better engine, and is VERY reliable believe it or not.
