i know i shouldnt put the blame on the jeep owner but he should of had at least 1 anti-theft lug on each corner, its the sad reality that you cant have nice things without having to worry about it being stolen

Locking lugs only work for thieves that are stupid.  Everyone knows you can pound on a smaller socket and turn it out.  Vice grips are pretty handy as well.

It's not so much to prevent them from getting the wheels off. it's trying to make it as hard and time consuming as possible to do so.

Too bad he didn't do something non obvious like etch his initials on the inside of a spoke. Those wheels can't be hard to spot. Keep an eye out on Craigslist or some other white boy with them on his car.

A wheel and tire combo like that is pretty common in Alberta. It looks like an old willies with the pizza cutter steelies on it.

I only use the locking lugs that have the internal key. They're threaded on the outside intended for plastic caps to go over. When there is zero space around the lug, they are not so easy to get off.

Sucks it happened, but I rarely see people with locks (or in general, any security) get ripped off. Kinda makes me wonder if they knew someone by the "consideration" they gave not dropping it on the ground. Seems apparent they didn't do it for noise if nobody was around.

Pink ftw.

what do you mean by "zero space around the lug"?

Probably that it would be harder to get a pair of vice grips on it.

What shop was this at? Where do you live Travis? I live in Red Deer.

I had my shed broken into, bike stolen, garage broken into, Old wheels stolen,  they jammed a screw driver into my rad 3 times. Woke up to a nice puddle.

Theives are ruthless right now, they pryed my neighbors garage door open and popped it off the tracks.

3 of my buddies trucks have been stolen in the last month. Retardation

Unless there is absolutely no room around the lug, all it takes is one of those sockets that is made like an inside-out easy out (i forget the name lol) with the threads on the inside to grip the lugnut.  My last jeep had locking lugs on the wheels when i bought it and i didnt have the key for them.  About 4 minutes later they were all off (and my buddy at the parts store let me return the socket after i sprayed it with some flat black so it looked new lol).
