Why didn't you guys spray a few cans of brake clean on the clutch through the pivot arm hole?

Probably cause it was already lke 8 in the evening and I had already kept JD long enough to work on my POS car.

Anyone have fixed a slipping clutch due to oil before?  When I actually get it pulled (think when it gets above freezing again in a week or two) is the best thing to do just soak the disc in brake clean and then rough up the pp and flywheel surfaces with some sand paper, just to get the glaze off?

sand paper, break clean.

i thought brake pad anti-squeel paste went between the rotor and pad.  the brakes sucked really badly.

sanded the pads, brake cleaned the pads and rotors, worked perfect.

hopefully you will get lucky since ur blunder is about 7 thousand times less stupid than mine.

A friend just tried the brake kleen trick on his 1.7 RT4WD wagon, but he did it with the disc out of the car. Didn't help.

Thats 2 fails on the attempt to save vs 1 that worked that I've heard just from asking around.  The shit still clamps like crazy, still really easy to kill pulling out.  I'm just hoping I haven't driven on it enough to really soak the oil into the material.

Wonder if it is possible to burn the oil out of the material on the disc.  I could throw it in an oven for a while and see what happens

When I first turbo'd my car I put the pan back on, and the gasket on the main side slipped inside of the pan. Leaked oil all over the flywheel, and somehow got on the clutch side. Anyways, it started slipping. I just kept driving, and evenually, it went away. LOL. Dont know if I would have risked it, had it not been on a stock disc (with heavy PP).

Good luck to you though.

Sick build. Did not read it all but JB welded oil pan/map sensor and a stick welded mani is a fucking win. Excellent work.

He said fuck it and drove on it for a week, it started grabbing.  Hasn't been past 12 psi yet, though.  So IDK.

Mine was a stock clutch, and it kept slipping after a month...couldn't even hold 2psi on the freeway. I never even found where the oil was from - I could only guess a few drops from the VC made it down and somehow flung themselves onto the clutch. I got a used ACT HDSS, sanded the flywheel, and it's been awsome ever since.

I think you would have to heat it up juuuust right to burn the oil but not the clutch. The heavy PP probably helped in the example above.
