Flaming pile of crap I'm working on :)
« on: December 02, 2009, 10:43:10 AM »

Well the Toyota is still chilling in the barn, didn't even make it to the track this year.   Changed the manifold and turbo and switched to E85 but that's about it.

Also picked up a 1991 Dodge Colt to make a fun driver/autocross car while spending the least amount of money as possible.

Plan is for AWD before the end on next summer, but I just need to get it running now.

4g63-6 bolt
stock ford T3 turbo
junk laying around in the barn

Intercooler core I have had laying around for years + old aluminum driveshaft
ford 65mm throttle body, junkyard gm sensors and a used megasquirt1
just need a few more items and it should be possible to start it

more few more pictures can be seen here, but nothing great.

and the current look of the toyota

Good to see you around again.  8)

Your a bastard btw, I have an 89 Colt and a 92 fwd talon parts car sitting in my yard for the last 6 months I have yet to hammer on. I am too lazy/busy working on others cars.

Starlet is still a beautiful machine, how do you like the e85?

E85 is pretty cool so far,  got rid of the alchy injection kit so it cleaned up the engine bay some.
Only downside so far is lack of stations here, but I don't drive it on long trips anyways.
And the fact that the engine bay smells like a mix of ass and skunk.  It is a bit stinky

5-lug conversion from a 4th gen?  Are those brakes gonna do the job?  I was gonna yank the whole front supension from the talon for my swap because of the brakes mainly. Ugh.  Yours makes me want to throw mine together, which is bad cause im poor-ass right now.

Question: why the megaquirt?  Did you not have a stock harness/ecu? DS-MAP is badass...

pretty sure the brake swap is from a 4th gen mirage. They where on it when I got it.   As far as the ms.  I picked one up for $50 that just needed modded for the cas input. And I am pretty use o
using the software from the ms2 that is one
my starlet.

Sir, you can read correct?  The name of this site/forum is REALhomemadeturbo.com.  Not Realhomemadezomgmydaddyboughtmycar.com.  We work with what we have laying around.  Best adjust your attitude.  Randy is a hardcore pipe-hitting motherfucker who can (I guarantee) fab circles around anything you can build, and clearly built this Colt simply because he wanted to and could. Show some respect.

Constructive criticism is welcome here but "shoulda got a better turbo" is not in our vocabulary.  Ya know.

A "better" turbo would be nice, but the ford T3 has been laying around here for years...so it is pretty much free.  Free works pretty good for me.

If you have some turbo mirage axles and a 92 awd dsm stub axle/carrier I will buy them now.  Thats all I lack for parts on my swap, unless I decide to be ghetto and make the long-shaft stock axles work with the f5m33 inner joints.  :noel:

Bump from the dead

The mitsu pile is still not running,  its ready for paint but it took a long time to get the title and I didn't want to put more money/time in it till I got it.  I have it now, but it's frick'n hot out.

Took the toyota to the track, boost up around 31ish  went 108mph in the 1/8th.   Spun off the line so it only went a 7.26.
Lowered the air pressure and did a longer burnout and it hooked up better. but wouldn't go into 4th (air in the clutch line, was low on fluid and I think the good launch caused it)
Went 7.03 at 96mph coasting about 60-100 feet.

Going back in a few weeks with a little more boost and a 50 shot :)
Using 235/60*15 M&H dots on these runs, some slicks would drop the times a ton.

That's moving pretty fucking good to hit 108  in the 1/8.  What kind of times do u think this thing would pull in the 1/4 mile? Low 10's? Since its rwd and it hooks the first half of the track I wouldn't expect it to gain a bunch of mph in the last half of the 1/4 mile like a fwd does.

Randy we need some pic's!

Next race is middle of next month, but I might try and make it for some test and tune sooner.
I'll be sure and take somebody who can film.   It should either go pretty quick or break trying.
The nitrous kit is just about installed and I have a couple bottles filled ready to go.
