Being how different the geometry is I don't think stock spring rate will mean much to you unless your a geometry master.

Ordered up a set of springs and shocks. Went with 325# springs. Figure it will lower it a little and eventually I'm gonna go to coilovers do these will probably work for now. I hope.

Front on mine is still spring shock but adjustable shocks.

I was looking at the calendar last night trying to figure out when I was going to be able to get out there and work on it, I've got something booked for the next 8 weekends in a row. so I'm sure sometime in September I'll be able to work on it. until then I'm going to try and assemble the front clip while it's sitting on the ground and not in the car

I was gonna do a dry fit on everything b4 i bolt it onto the car. That way if I have to mod anything I can do it while it's off the car and I can take it to a friend's to have anything machined and whatnot. If I need to. So I went to go bolt the lower control arms on just to see how they fit and they don't fit....lol so I'll get pics and post up what I'm talking about. Need to take about 1/4" off of the lower a arm support sleeve so the a arm will slide on. I'll take pics of what I'm talking about later.

So here is what I got. The frame portion measures 7 5/16"

And the arms with the washers measure 7 1/8"

so should I just say screw it and cut 3/16" off the spacer that's welded to the frame so the a arm fits in? Because I'm pretty sure that's what's gonna happen....lol

Good, because that's what I did. They fit good now. Might hit them a little more with the sanding wheel to just make it a little easier to put the washers in.

Ordered up a steering rack today. Comes with tie rod ends and bushings and bolts to mount it up. Not to bad for like $74 shipped.......

Little work done today. Didn't like the ricer yellow on the shocks so it got the low gloss black treatment. Finished dry fitting everything up and after I trimmed the lower a arm sleeve/spacer off the frame the lower a arms fit great.

So my ebay mustang II rack and pinion showed up today. Came with mounting bolts, mount busings and tie rod ends. All for $73 shipped. Not a bad deal. I didn't care for the mexichrome pain it had so I gave it a good coat of the old low gloss black. Turned out pretty good.

It will be interesting to see what your caster ends up as. Moving the lower arm back lowers it, and from what I've seen most people add caster. Adding it back via the top can cause rubbing, but I'd presume you'll be running fairly narrow tires in front.

I'd have bitched up a storm & asked for new lower arms or a hefty refund.

It didn't move the centerline back at all with me cutting the spacer.

The whole clip though, moves the entire centerline back. It centers it in the wheel well opening so you can fit a tire larger then 24" without rubbing on the front of the fender. The chevy II suspention sucks dick. It's nothing like your firebird. It's more like a 1st gen mustang.

So I got about a hour of work done in the garage today.

So I didn't take a picture of it but the trans is on the engine stand and I pulled the pan because I'm gonna tear it down and do the dual feed mod that jake from jakes performance did a write up about.

Well, the removal has begun
Fenders off, and steering box and steering column shaft pulled.

So now the next step is to clean the firewall up and give it some paint love. And then bolt the frame on, and go through the transmission and put it back together then bolt the engine to trans and slide it in and weld up some frame motor mounts. Pull the motor back out and and then do final assembly.

Yes and yes. Pull pass side motor mount off frame, undo 2 bolts inside car that hold column to dash, pull steering wheel, unbolt the 3 bolts that hold the steering box to frame, Unbolt the pitman arm from the center link, undo brake lines and fuel line, then unbolt the 14 bolts that hold the frame to the car. Roll it away.

It might, but from what I've read the 66 and earlier dont. But the 67 does.

I always thought x & f-bodies were very similar, but I'm starting to see they really aren't. At least it was an easy fix, I'm just surprised they didn't make that bring that rear point forward to allow more caster adjustment.

Now I just have to get off my ass & do work too.

The x body and f body are night and day. Only thing the same is transmissions, rear ends, and motors. And even then the 62-67 x body never got a big block from the factory like the first gen f body's did.

Now that I think about it the 68 and newer novas were alot like the 67+ f bodys.
