Thanks man. I have a whiteboard and I just keep wiping things off it. Once I get the motor in the car the rest should go pretty quick. Just need to get this welding and grinding done so I can paint it and drop it in.

Got a little more progress done today. So I started grinding all my welds to make it pretty the other day. Today see how much more I would need to do to make the shock towers look worth a damn I decide to say screw it and went to town.

Got the spring and shock out of the way.

Welded up the outside

Cleaned it up and Taped it off and sprayed with permetex rubberized undercoating.

So I didn't get a pic of the engine bay side but I went back over my ground off welds and welded some new better looking slug trails.

Well, drivers side all done. Now it's time to clean the engine bay and give it a fresh coat of paint and drop the motor in.

Well fuck me I got a lot done tonight.

1. Front main cover torqued down
2. Rear cover torqued down
3. Motor mount plates painted and installed
4. Engine bay cleaned up and painted
5. Steam vent tube and caps painted and reinstalled
6. Dipstick tube capped off
7. Oil pan bolted on
8. Pulled engine off engine stand to only run into problems

So that's where I stopped. My motor mounts won't fit on my motor mount plates because there is a weird bulge on the back so I'm gonna grab a new set of es poly motor mounts.

Then I went to bolt my flexplate on and was taking some measurements and it looks as if I have a early 99/00 long crank. So when I pulled my flexplate out of the back of the car and went to bolt it up it stuck out about 1 3/8" from the back of the block to the far side of the flexplate. And it should only be about 1" So after calling it a night and going in and taking a shower, I started reasearching. I just figured I had the wrong flex plate. Which I have a 01+ flexplate with a built in spacer. Now I've seen some pictures of where people remove them but I don't know how. So I think tomorrow I'll just take my bfh to it and see how it rolls.

Onto the pics.

I'll trade you that one for the one without the spacer.

I already knocked the spacer out of it. Now I just need to slide it onto the crank and tq it down.

So just a quick update. Spent all of about 10 min in the garage b4 my kid woke up and had to get back to daddy duties.

This is how it looked last night when I called it a night.

went to the auto parts store today and just picked up a new set of motor mounts. Mine were pretty haggard anyways and god only knows how old. New ones don't have as large as a hump on the back so 1 washer to space it out and I should be golden. Hard to tell here but the old one had at least 1/4" hump in the middle. Couldn't sit flush up against my adapter plates.

also soaked the plate with the spacer in a little wd40.  Took 2 flexplate bolts and stuck it on cinder block and worked it with little taps from a rubber mallet.

to tomorrow I'm gonna tighten all that shit down and bolt the th400 up and slide it in the nova. Unless I run I to more problems.

Well its all buttoned up for the night. Got the motor mounts all shimmed out and seems like it's gonna work out good. Got the flexplate bolted down and it's gonna work. Also got the crank pulley torqued down. So tomorrow, this will find its new home in the nova.

Well fuck me!!!! This fucking motor fought me the whole way. IT DID NOT WANT TO GO IN!!! But it's in.

First thing. I went to go install my trans on and I noticed I only had 1 alignment pin for the transmission. Not a big deal, but I had to stop and run to the hardware store and pick up a couple of different sized ones. 5/8" is just about right. Bfh and a block of wood and I drove her home.

next was putting it in........uhhuhgggggg

So I had to drop the front crossmember, swaybar, steering linkage, passenger side valve cover, and I still had to use brute force to get it in. Once in I had to move the mounts on my motor mount plates back 3/4" (which moves the motor forward) I was able to get it in. But now my transmission is 3/4" forward of where it was. So now I don't know if my driveline is gonna work out. FUCK!! And to top that off I now have to fab up a new crossmember for my trans. There is like one 1/4" of room between the rear of my passenger side head and the fire wall. So there is no moving it back more....lol oh well at least it's in.

Just went out into the garage and the back of the motor is falling down...lol peaked under the car and since my trans mount is just resting on the flange and it's fucking bending it because it's on the very edge.

Well today I crawled under the car and took a look at the trans. I jacked the tranny up to where it needed to be it was a fat inch that it needed to be lifted. So i crawled under the car and pulled the crossmember and started drilling and chopping. And then i used a couple of spacers I had and it put the crossmember back in. It's a little better but at this point I'm just gonna run it where it's at. That's why there's u joints....lol Anysways now it's time to start slapping water pump and all that shit on. But it's gonna be at a stand still for a few weeks as i have family coming into town.

Not really. Gonna probably try and set the intake on it tomorrow. And maybe set the coil packs on there too. Pretty sure the exhaust is gonna run out of the inner fenders And dive behind the wheels. I'm more concerned about exhaust manifolds. Don't know if I flip the stockers if they will even work.  :-\

I like that idea, but I have to get some measurments from them. I really don't think they will fit to be honest.  Clearance between the head and the shock towers is very close.

So I have about 2.5ish from the exhaust port to the shock tower. Defiantly going to have to go up with them or build a couple of logs

I'm thinking a f body drivers side manifold might fit flipped on the pass side. Then I will just have to come up with something on the drivers side. Need to take my chop saw and angle grinder to my exhaust manifolds and see what I can come up with.

I'm thinking a f body drivers side manifold might fit flipped on the pass side. Then I will just have to come up with something on the drivers side. Need to take my chop saw and angle grinder to my exhaust manifolds and see what I can come up with.

I have a set of fbody manifolds if you want to try.

I just need to see if they will fit if i flip them. I'll text you ross. You gonna be around on saturday evening? I'm gonna be on that side of the water picking up my father in law from the airport. I'll text you
