over half are mounted to the ceiling:

Testing out each box.  Wiring them all together is going to be a bitch:

Speakers are starting to arrive:

Hopefully I'll get the majority of the ceiling done by next weekend and start on the sound system

Looks like Whitey is getting ready to host the next RHMT meet. I'm sure we could rent a dyno for his garage, right?

The only shitty thing about have a place like this is that I'm always the default house my in-laws goto for parties.  It's just assumed anymore which is bullshit.  Oh well.  Still wiring the LED's.  I built a control panel:

Still can't get over this picture quality.  This is projected on primed drywall at a 15 1/2 foot screen and my picture taking is shitty:

LED lights are 99% done.  I have a little bit of wiring to cleanup, have to run speaker wires then I'm onto finishing the beams:

The light bleeds on the screen a little.  Will turn them off for movies but not bad:

Update, this stuff takes forever but I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel for at least the ceiling.  I mostly finished up the beams in the ceiling and mounted 8, 4" downlights:

starting to putty in the joints:

Also finishing out the projector mount.  Still have to finish the crown and mount other trim

I put in a shelf so I can pull out the projector if I need to get to the side of it or anything:

That's all for now.

Well photobucket pretty much ruined this thread and fucked up every post I ever made.  I started using imgur, we'll see how well this works.  Here's a recap of the theater room with pictures.

Start of the room:

Paint and nailers:

Jig setup to cut trim:

Making boxes:

Mounting boxes to the ceiling:

Wiring Board for the LED lights behind the crown:

Testing of LED's:

Mounted 4" lighting on the bottom of the beams:

Speakers came in and boxes were made:

Speakers mounted on the wall and screen was taken over by the boss.  Final screen size will be 175" as shown:

More testing:

Routing out material for the component rack:

Component rack started.  Yes, everything is on vibration isolators so the sub doesn't mess with the electronics:

Starting working on the columns for decoration and to hide the speakers:

Doors came in and trim is supposed to be in on Tuesday so hopefully some big progress will happen soon.  So pissed photobucket ruined this thread.  Photobucket pretty much fucked 90% of forums.  I was using that site since I joined HMT back in 2003

The only thing I can guess is that photobucket must have been/currently be in the process of going under. The whole site looks like spammy bullshit now.

Home theater is looking great, probably the most elaborate one I've ever seen! You guys must be serious about your entertainment. Would be fun as hell with some first person shooter games

The irony is I don't watch much TV or movies, I just like to build shit.

More work continues on the column and wall paneling:

finishing getting all the trim up, now I need to move onto putty and caulk then I can start painting:

Framed out the window in the room.  Before:

after:

It's starting to look less like  a construction site and more like an actual movie room:

After I finish the sanding, caulking, painting I can move onto adding fabric into the room for the column inserts, trim around the screen wall, acoustic panels, and star ceiling.  right now I hit the 6 month mark on this project but I can start seeing the light at the end of the tunne

Thanks.  I'm at the picking out carpet style stage.  Here are the 4 patterns (NOT COLORS) Top runners are the 2 on the right:

The color of carpet will be a dark blue like the walls.  Here's current status:

Projector mount is done:

I added some of the "soundproofing" inside.  From what I've read this thin foam doesn't really do much but it did finish off the inside of the box nicely:

Next up is finishing up the column inserts and "screen" surround

Trimed out around the screen wall.  Used 1/4" plywood wrapped in black felt.  The top piece is 1.5x3/4 to go better with the ceiling.

Still need to finish the column inserts.  I want to make the fronts removable with velcro so I can access the speakers

Progress has been slow but I got my star ceiling panel laid out.  I did a mix of the summer and winter constellations with the milky way going through the middle:

Used black felt same as the column panels.  Need to clean up the mess, cut them all flush and get it mounted to the ceiling:

Installed the panel to the ceiling and trimmed all the stars.  Only lost 4 of 600 in the process.  Puts out a nice light directly in the center of the room directly beneath where the couch is going.  Its like a map light for the car, just enough light to see what your doing without reflecting on the screen.  Crappy pictures and still need to do the crown moulding around it:

Last piece of trim is on which completes the coffered ceiling. The pictures without the LED's on is a better representation of the cream color.  It's not quite as white as some of the pictures show

Time to buy carpet and a couch
